2022.01.28 19:42 barb4290 What storage should I use for baby clothes/items? (FTM)

My spouse and I live in a 650 square foot one bedroom apartment. We plan on moving to a larger, two bedroom apartment in a year when the baby is around 7 months old since we couldn’t really afford to this year. But for the first 6 or 7 months of baby’s life, we’re only going to have a small area in what was our dining space for a “nursery” corner. We were going to get a pack n play with a bassinet for the baby to sleep in and I was thinking of getting a large basket (the size of a laundry hamper) for the baby’s clothes, but I’m worried that might be disorganized and inconvenient. Any suggestions on what to use for storage? We don’t have room for a chest of drawers or a changing table. Are there any baby items I’m not thinking about that we’ll need storage for besides clothes in the nursery area?

2022.01.28 19:42 Hummerville Funny/exasperating issue

I moved into this house ~8 years ago. The old timer that lived here before must have loved TV since there were coax cable to almost every room. The living room even had 5 ports on one wall.
I used one of the 5 ports in the living room for my modem and it was fine for years. Then I moved the modem across the room. That port was fine for about a year then that summer started intermittently dropping out when the sun was on the cable box. So the usual... replacing splitters, swapping connections etc. Frustrated for months since it was so intermittent but finally it got bad enough that I could start tracing cables. Found several spots that wiggling the cable had an effect.
So, the cause? It tuns out that as the previous owner added cables they would just nail the staple thru the cables that were beneath the new one. I found a half dozen metal staples going right through the cables. I redid the staples and removed unused cables and it worked great. The previous owner never did anything himself so I have to assume a cable tech did this.
Very frustrating but it worked well after that until the middle of winter. Getting glitchy on that same cable, so I'm guessing moisture is getting in there.

2022.01.28 19:42 -__----- Time for New Shoes?

I picked up a pair of Saucony Endorphin Pros back in the fall for $100 and have been using them as my primary racing and training shoe. I’ve been using them to run around 40-50 MPW preparing for my first marathon at the end of February.
I’ve put around 400 miles on them, and wanted to see what peoples’ thoughts are on whether this is too much mileage for an optimal race day performance. I’m a relatively new runner so I’m not exactly sure what to be looking for in terms of my shoes wearing out. I’ve done a few 20 mile runs in them and the runs were tough enough that it’s hard to attribute it to the shoe vs just inherent difficulty.
I know the mantra is nothing new for race day, so if I were to upgrade I’d get the endorphin pro 2’s and break them in with some medium distance runs in my taper weeks leading up to the marathon.

2022.01.28 19:42 Strange_poptart Toxic mom

For background shortly after my parents got married they decided to try for a baby (me) and after a while of trying they got pregnant. Okay on to the reason I’m posting, my mom recently started dating this guy James, and she was not upfront with me about it at all and would lie about where she is going/ doing ( btw I’m under 18) when she finally did tell me about him she would act super shady about it and hide a lot of details from me, her and James have been going out for about 3 weeks or so and they go out about 2 times a week. ( also for context I had a string of really awful things happen to me recently and have been struggling with my mental and physical health.) she “tries” to plan these dates for when I’m at work but is very bad at this so I eventually got sick of being home alone on my nights off from work and had a full break down that led me to crying for about 2 hours and when she asked me if I was working today when I told her no she said that she was planning on going out after work, and this is when I got upset and she got angry and told me that “she put her whole life on hold for me”. I didn’t ask to be born. Does anyone have any advice.
