2022.01.28 06:03 MladenT The Moth Joke has now been removed from Teamcoco YouTube page.

I assume this has something to do with The Tonight Show thing (twelve years later!), because all of the remaining clips are still there. I'm a little bummed. It was great to have a high quality version up on an official channel...

2022.01.28 06:03 AsideMaster A bending moment induces tensile- and compression stress. The ultimate bending moment a beam can withstand therefore is limited by the maximum tensile or compression strength of a material, is that correct?

I'm asking because wood is stronger in tension than compression.
Spruce:
Strenght in compression parellel to fibre: 95 MPa Strength in tension parellel to fibre : 45 MPa Flexural strength : 80 MPa
Could someone explain to me why the flexural strength is not limited by the lower strength in tension (45 MPa) ?
Also, I came upon this thread while trying to look for an answer:
Q: If wood is stronger in tension, why does a wooden bow frequently break on the tension side?
A: Your case is not tension or compression, it is bending. While it does generate compressive and tensile stresses in the part, it is not the same for non-homogeneous materials such as wood. Most uses for wood are in tension or compression. Only rarely will you see wood used STRUCTURALLY in bending due to the inconsistency of the material under bending.
"Wood is strong in tension and compression, but can be weak in bending due to its fibrous structure." - Wikipedia.

The answer was the most upvoted one by far, but the part about wood not being used in bending is completer rubbish, right? Joist, rafters and other types of beams are used all the time and are all in bending. Please confirm, because I'm starting to question myself.

2022.01.28 06:03 FastBuds_genetics News: Thailand to Allow Home Growing of Cannabis

On Tuesday, Thailand’s narcotics board announced its decision to remove the cannabis plant and all its parts from the list of illicit drugs. The move will make the country the first in South-East Asia to allow its residents to legally grow the crop. In 2018, Thailand was the first in the region to recognize the therapeutic benefits of the plant by legalizing its medical use.

2022.01.28 06:03 CommercialCap2689 $1928 $500 Gold Certificate

I have the opportunity to purchase what seems to be a legitimate 1928 $500 Gold Cert. I believe its real because the seller is offering buyer protection return on the item and would be taking a substantial risk selling counterfeit money. If it isnt real i only have 48hrs to do something about it if i want to get my money back through buyer protection. Based on these two crappy photos does this note seem like its worth a chance? Anything you guys see that would disqualify it immediately? Im not sure how to post an image actually, any help would be appreciated guys. Thank you

2022.01.28 06:03 LelNah How to subdivide a mesh but only like half?

I’m not sure how to phrase this correctly but let’s say I have a retopo mesh that uses a multi res modifier at like 5 levels of subdivision that gives me 12 million faces but it’s just not enough resolution so I need to subdivide again but it gives me like 40 million faces. Is there a way to Go about somehow going from like 12 million to 20-28ish million? Thanks
