2022.01.18 18:48 bart2puck Where are the employees working
I, like many others, have seen many shops in my area posting "short staffed" signs and the like. My question is where is most of the workforce going for work? How are they earning money?
I know of companies who have indeed job posts out there for months and are getting 0 results. I know that some jobs are far less desirable than others, and if the pay matches, the prospect will go to the better job, but at some point there has to be the people that are remaining, where are they going for work.
This post isn't really "Why aren't they working?" because I am certain I know the answer.
If this is not the correct /r to post this, please let me know.

2022.01.18 18:48 Raised-ByWolves How about we start a new trend? Add location of your finds in your post.
No, not lat/long coordinates or even the township. But country and county/coast/state etc?
Lots of interesting finds shown, but I think this would add another layer of interest along with the pics and it would be especially helpful for "Whats it?" type posts.
What say ye?

2022.01.18 18:48 Mattiassch Player scavs who go on factory to farm scav kills
Are you trying to get as low karma as possible, or are you unaware of karma?
2/3 rounds I scav on factory I get killed by player scavs, I usually scav on factory when im doing something else and just do it as a way to gain karma. I will load in and sit afk until I have a minute and just run to the extract, but more than half the time, even if I am sitting afk, I will get killed by a player scav. Why?

2022.01.18 18:48 yesitshollywood My LL experience, and why I won't be returning as a patron this year
With tickets on sale this week, I feel like this may be helpful for those of you on the fence. A bit of background about me: I've been doing the camping fest thing since '14. I've been to local fests as well as Electric Forest, and EDC Orlando.
I attended LL in '19 as GA and '21 as VIP.
19 was a blast, the grounds were a little small with not much to do if you weren't at a set. There was a stage with fire performers which was neat and fits the prehistoric theme. There was also that trippy video dome thing - the name escapes me but it was alright. I felt like the value of the fest matched the ticket price.
'21 was obviously a cluster fuck for some. Weather caused arrival issues, and this was the first time (that I'm aware) that LL ever had to deal with something like this. I arrived before they shut things down, so on that note I really can't comment. I will say that it was very muddy, and I did see cars get stuck while staff was attempting to park them in some areas.
As for VIP, the viewing areas were nice if you wanted to sit and watch a set. The bathrooms were not well maintained by night, and would be out of everything including soap (LOL IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC). Honestly I think some of the porta johns were cleaner than the VIP bathrooms. The expedited entry into the festival was not worth it, and they were not checking wristbands. I watched multiple people in GA lines make it in before me. By day 4 I gave up and just went in the GA line.
The festival grounds were expanded, with two stages added and some areas to sit added in between.
On to my concerns:
I don't hate Lost Lands by any means. However, when the ticket prices start to compare with a festival like EDC or EF, I certainly think of the production value and immersive experience - and Lost Lands is not at that level except for with the two main stages. They dropped the ball last year with the arrival process, and anticipating weather and what work would need to be done to make the grounds viable. VIP offered very little besides a viewing area.
If I was to return, I'd go GA. But honestly - I just think I'd get more bang for my buck at another fest.

2022.01.18 18:48 untitled__unmastered Some type of worms in my food I ate - twice
A couple hours ago I had some tricolore lettuce (the type that comes on a clod) and when I almost finished I noticed a black tiny wobbly worm/parasite on my plate. I seriously almost puked. Ever since yesterday evening I have had an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach I couldn't seem to place and this evening it just clicked that it was because of the lettuce. I didn't wash them both times I ate this :(. I don't want to imagine how many of these tiny worms or whatever they are I have in my stomach right now. I have never had this reaction to any type of lettuce so it can't be an allergy and to be frank I am really scared of the fact that these little living things could be eating the food in my stomach right now and if I don't do anything they'll get bigger and I'll have greater issues.
Can anyone tell me whether I'm freaking out about nothing or if I should seek my GP if this feeling won't go away the next few days?
Anyway, thanks for even reading this post LOL

I've used hwinfo, asus armoury crate and msi afterburner. Armoury Crate is showing me the lowest temperatures while other 2 are higher for 10-15 celsius and sometimes even more. I have i7 9700k with Coolermaster MasterFan 212 RGB Phantom Edition. Afterburner and Hwinfo sometimes even displayed 90+ Celsius while Armoury Crate displays maximum of 70 Celsius. Which one should I trust?

2022.01.18 18:48 andrude01 You (Part 2), a not quite true Big 4 Accounting Story
As some have asked, I have written a sequel to the (fictional?) story I posted last night. You can see the original here (recommended for much of the context for below): https://www.reddit.com/Accounting/comments/s6i65g/attack_on_busy_season/ht4oigh/?context=3
Fair warning, while there isn't anything graphic, it's certainly not the most pleasant of stories. Enjoy!
Two years have passed. You didn’t know it at the time but agreeing in your engagement evaluation that you were underperforming was the start of getting laid off. Your Partner and Manager put you on a PIP. You worked longer hours than anyone else on the audit team. At the recommendation of the Partner, you got more involved with the firm - you helped with recruiting efforts, joined a Diversity & Inclusion workstream, and joined a mentorship program. It wasn’t enough. The firm still let you go, and in the HR meeting your Partner suggested not stretching yourself so thin at your next job or else you might burn out.
You applied to a dozen different jobs but after a week only hear back from one. Afraid of being unemployed for too long you accept the job even though it was never your first choice. It’s a position as an Accounts Payable Clerk at a company with processes stuck 20 years in the past, with a fraction of the pay you used to make. Money is extremely tight. While you’ve stopped the payments to your ex-wife, you still have student loans and you’re paying to see a therapist, who has prescribed you Prozac. You’ve stopped taking finasteride and your hair has started thinning faster. You don’t have the courage yet to shave it all off.
As your first few weeks go by, a few of the other companies ask you for an interview. You decline because you think that quickly jumping from job to job would look bad on your resume. Instead, you spend eight to ten hours a day, five to six days a week, month after month, entering invoices into your company’s system.
While you’re clicking away at your keyboard, you hear Susan, your supervisor, walking up. You’d prefer to put in your headphones while you work, but Susan doesn’t allow them as she finds it to be unprofessional. She brings you to her desk, where on her computer screen you can see a listing of invoices. She’s annoyed at you because you aren’t entering the invoices in numerical order, which makes it more difficult for her to review. When you offer to show her how to sort the listing, she rolls her eyes and reminds you that she’s the one with the CPA. She demands that you delete all the invoices you inputted over the past week and redo them. This will require working late hours and weekends until completed, but she knows that’s not an issue for you because of your fancy Big 4 experience. When you get back to your desk, you find that she’s emailed you the same information, copying the Controller.
It takes you a month of working overtime to catch up on the invoices. Your one solace is playing music after everyone else had left for the day, but one night Susan snuck back in to check if you were really doing work. She sent a complaint to HR for the inappropriate music, which is kept in your file. Vendors begin to complain about late payments and Susan blames it on your poor data entry skills, which is noted in your interim performance evaluation. Susan regrets that you are now no longer be eligible for a raise or bonus this year.
More time passes, days and weeks blend together. Then one day Susan comes by your desk to tell you that some fancy Big 4 consultants, like you used to be, are coming into the office to automate parts of GL system and that you would be the perfect person to explain how it all works. You get anxious over the idea, but with some encouragement from your therapist, you think this could be an opportunity to show how valuable you can be to the company and survive any potential layoffs. When you walk into the meeting room, you recognize one of the consultants. It’s your ex-wife’s boyfriend, and he’s the Senior Manager running the team. He’s extroverted and likeable and happy and a symbol of all the things you’re not. He says he’s glad to have you as part of the team. Despite the pain building up inside you, you promised to help and can’t back out now. You spend 60-hour weeks over the next several months working with and showing the consultants how the system works to make the automation process run as smoothly as possible.
The implementation is a huge success. Your company is extremely pleased with the consulting team and throws a pizza party. The Controller specifically finds you to congratulate you on your hard work. You enjoy the food and the day. You see a future where you’re no longer forced to do data entry. The new process is simple to use but too high-tech for someone like Susan to understand. They’ll soon look to promote you and you’ll have more pay and a more fulfilling job with reasonable hours. You’ll have more personal time to pursue other interests and get your love life back.
As the consultants are leaving the Senior Manager pulls you aside and thanks you for all your help. He also hands you a sealed letter. He says it’s from his girlfriend/your ex-wife but doesn’t know any more than that. You put the letter in your pocket and try to forget about it.
Susan calls you over and you both walk into the Controller’s office. An HR representative is also present. With great regret, they have decided to let you go. The automated system has now made data entry jobs like yours unnecessary. You find out that Susan is best placed to continue overseeing the process because she knows the company so well. Defeated, you’re escorted by Susan and a security guard out of the building. She suggests that you should ask that fancy Senior Manager about a job since he seems to like you so much.
You refuse to be so emasculated as to go to your ex-wife’s boyfriend for career help. Instead, you apply to as many different open positions as you can, no matter how good or bad the fit. A week goes by, then two. You hear nothing back. You spend most of your days mindlessly watching Netflix. You refuse to open the letter from your ex-wife. Darkness creeping in, you withdraw into yourself. You stop taking your meds, you cancel your next therapy session. You don’t go outside. You just laze about, worthlessly.
Eventually, you check your bank account and see that money is even tighter than you initially thought. You have to do something, or you won’t even be able to pay rent. While searching through LinkedIn, you see that your ex-wife’s boyfriend recently posted that his team is hiring. Ignoring your pride, you call him, explain your situation, and ask if there’s a spot open for you. Very kindly, he tells you that his team is full at the moment and that he needs to go because he’s picking up his son from daycare.
After he hangs up, you sit alone in the darkness of your apartment for a long time. Then you quietly sigh to yourself and begin submitting applications to deliver for Uber and DoorDash.

2022.01.18 18:48 XToralesX Asked someone for a LOR for summer programs and he offered to write them for college as well. Should I accept?
I’m not applying to schools this cycle and I think he may have misunderstood. Should I clarify and ask for letters specifically for summer programs / internships, or should I take advantage of the offer and use him as a LOR for next cycle? I’m hoping to have letters from dual enrollment professors or people who knew me a little bit better.
We don’t know each other super well but I’m absolutely thrilled he agreed. Should I clarify and go through with what I originally planned?
