2022.01.23 18:06 NoCommunication7 Glasses
No not the kind you put on your eyes, the thing you drink from, about a year or two ago i was banned from using glass glasses, i can only have the plastic ones that are like faceted, after a while they crack and start leaking, so my desk is water damaged, i can't write anymore because the paper gets wet, also no drink tastes right out of them and i'm pretty sure they're leaching chemicals into my drinks, toxic chemicals at that.
My moms excuse? 'they're safer if they fall on the floor' last time i shattered a glass on the floor was a decade ago, and it wasn't even my fault, i think the actual cause was about a year ago she put a cold drink in a glass without waiting for it to adjust to tempature so it exploded from the tempature shock, and she's known for breaking glasses, but i'm pretty sure she gets to use the glass glasses!
I'm almost 20, is it me or does it get worse as you get older? even worse i've never actually broken a glass before, and i've got things that could be as dangerous, that includes other things made of glass, i'm just glad that this house doesn't have a stairlift or something, her latest 'thing' is stairs, even though the most dangerous stairs i've been up and down are the ones i go up and down the most and are the ones that she keeps putting obstructions like clothes on, also the irony is that like most people her phone is a death trap and swiping motions are scary.
Also no i can't sneak one out or in because she will notice.

2022.01.23 18:06 Rearthbound Single GPIO pin RGB control IC
Hello, i'm working on a project and i want to use some regular 5050RGB led strip (9-12V) but i only have a single GPIO pin left to spare so i cant control the 3diodes indivually. I was wondering if there is some ic out there that tackles this problem. Somthing like how ws8212b's work but then for an entire led strip not indivually adressable and preferably have mostfets built in to switch the 5V input to 9-12v ive done a bit of looking around but havent found somthing yet. If anyone knows an ic like that i'd love to hear about it

2022.01.23 18:06 PrincessFartsparkle Concerned about how my Brother-In-Law (m39) treats my Neice (f5)
I'm concerned about how my sister''s (f36) husband (m39) treats their kid (f5). I don't think it's abuse, he never hits their kids or anything and I don't think it is emotional abuse territory, but I think the way he treats kid is overly harsh. He's overall a nice enough guy and we have always got along fine, but he overreacts to any misbehaviour from his daughter, tends to yell at her when she misbehaves, and regularly speaks to her in a hostile tone whenever she's just doing normal kid stuff that might be a bit annoying, but is expected from a 5 year old.
She's a bright and spirited kid. She's mostly well behaved, although she can overreact and tends to just tune people out when she's been asked to do something. I've noticed can be really resistant to cooperating with him sometimes, however I suspect that his overly domineering approach may be contributing to this.
My sister rarely says anything about it, but I can tell it bothers her. For example she tries to get between them and diffuse situations as they come up. She has a very good relationship with my neice and is for the most part is quite a patient mom. However, the general tone of negatively that my brother-in-law directs towards my neice just isn't sitting well with me. There's been a few incidents in particular that stand out. For example...
1 Last March they were over for dinner. Everything had been going well until my niece refused to sit where her dad wanted her to. He immediately started giving out to her and she threw her fork on the floor. He jumped up, picked her up and said in a raised voice, "Right. We're going home! If you can't behave then you can't eat at other people's houses." Then he stormed out to their car with my neice bawling her eyes out. We were all stunned - including my sister - who hurriedly picked up the baby, gathered up their things, apologised profusely and left. 2 This weekend my neice was over and mentioned that he called her a 'shit'. I said, 'that wasn't nice, and it's not true.' I as casually as I could asked her if he called her names much and she said no. But still. Maybe Im over reacting, maybe it's not my business, but I feel worried about the kind of impact his parenting could have on my neice. I want to say something to my sister but she has never opened up about this herself and I am just not sure whether and how I should go about addressing it. I feel like a bit of outside perspective might help.
TL:DR; Brother-in-Law is an overly harsh parent to my neice and I want to say something to my sister without causing any rifts.

2022.01.23 18:06 G_man252 Random question: What did the Corps do with all the M16A2 rifles used in basic training once they were replaced? I would assume they were sold or sent to some ally overseas.
I had an Armalite A2 in basic training in 09 and the rifle was obviously pretty worn out. With the whole ISIS/Taliban stuff happening the past 4-8 years, I wonder if that rifle is in the Middle east, or maybe they just destroyed it. Just wondering.

2022.01.23 18:06 joneslayer Very glad I found this subreddit
So here is a bit of info. I work for a startup doing sales. After a few months, they felt like they had done enough to justify hiring a sales manager. The entire time I’ve worked here, I’ve been the top performer. While it’s true I may not have been the perfect employee, I’ve out-performed everyone else on the team.
The sales manager was a promotion. He wasn’t an outside hire. He seemed like a good dude before he got promoted, but once he got power, he became an absolute dictator. We’re talking about getting mad at people (mainly me) for leaning back in our chairs.
The trend of being an ass hat has continued, and all the sales reps agree this dude is a piece of shit. Nobody likes him. But he was a very good sales rep so they hired him (and his best friend is the head honcho of the company). The frustrating thing is that the antagonizing has been primarily focused toward me. Like I said, I’ve been the top performer the entire time I’ve been here. No matter what I do, I’m constantly getting pulled into 1-1’s to talk about my attitude, how I’m not a team player (even though I’ve closed more deals for other reps than anyone else on the team), how I’m damaging the image of the company, etc. Well guess what, asshole, I quit. For the last month I’ve been taking interviews all during work hours, getting paid for nothing and making you look worse because your top rep is producing less than ever before - and it’s not because of a lack of skill. I’ve given up working for this dude. I have my final interview with a company tomorrow, and I’m anticipating an offer. I won’t know for sure, but I’ll definitely keep you guys updated. I can’t wait to tell him to fuck off as I leave the building.
I know this isn’t the most descriptive, but I’m trying to conceal as much identifiable info as possible. But, you guys inspired me to quit.
