2022.01.22 08:41 Late_Butterscotch_96 Watching 42 plants for six plus weeks?
I have a friend--not super close, but we hang out a few times a year--who had been going through a bad situation with her landlord. Instead of leaving the situation sooner rather than later, she stayed until it escalated and she actually got the city involved and now has some money from the city to move out of her old place (where the landlord turned off the electricity), but she had to do it in a pinch. But before all that, when she was just starting to talk about moving out, months prior to the actual moveout, she expressed to me during one of our walks that she was worried about what to do with her plants if she needed to move out in a pinch. I didn't know how many plants she had at the time, as I'd never been to her house, but I assumed it was just a handful, so I said I would be happy to keep them at my place when/if she moved out of her bad situation, while she found a new good situation.
Fast forward to this actually happening: I ended up watching nearly 50 plants, including one stinging nettle plant and other plants that seemed quite cheap or not in great shape (like a dying carrot in a pot, I kid you not)...in other words, plants that could have been easily thrown out when moving and replaced, or plants that were slightly hazardous. Not a huge deal, they're just plants after all. But here's the kicker. Just as soon as I get them all in my house (and porch), with the understanding that I'm going to watch them for a couple weeks over the holidays while my friend finds a new place, her 95 year old mom dies. She texts me and asks if I can watch them for longer as she needs to stay with her aged father while they both grieve. I felt backed into a corner--how could I say no to someone grieving? But at this point, the resentment starts setting in a bit, as while the death was totally unexpected, my friend chose to stay with her bad landlord for over a year in order to teach him a lesson, instead of just moving out like any sane person would have done...and then acted like a victim a whole time about it. So now a real actual tragedy had occurred, and I was stuck with all these plants.
Anyway, I swallowed my irritation, because obviously she was grieving and I wasn't going to be an asshole who said that 50 plants for a month or more was a lot. (She did not offer to pay me, by the way). In the meantime, a huge rainstorm happened for like two weeks that some of the plants did not take well, and, I kid you not, a squirrel started eating some of the cloth pots that about six of the outdoor plants were in (I actually witnessed this happening...crazy squirrel with cloth in its stomach). So, the plants were not exactly simple and easy for me to care for. I also dont have space for the indoor ones, which I have to kind of move around each day and are in the way. Still, they are just plants, it's not the end of the world. I told my friend what was going on with the squirrel, etc, and she said it was inconvenient for her to come and bring any of them to her fathers, as it would be a 1 and a 1/2 hour drive each way for her. I understood that and said the plants could stay until I went on a trip at the end of January. She has known all along that I am going out of town then and the plants would need to go at that point. I should add, at that point, the plants will have been here for 7 weeks. Which is a really long time.
Anyway, I was nervous about this...something just wasn't sitting right with me, so when I bought my plane tickets, I wrote to her and just confirmed that I was going to be gone then. And then she asked if the plants can stay here, and she can come water them once a week (I guess drive down from her fathers condo?). She has a new place that she's moving into in early February, which is good, and I said okay...though to be honest I didn't want to. I don't like the idea of someone at my place when I am out of town, and I feel annoyed because when her mom died back at the end of December, I said the plants could stay here until she found a place OR until I left for my trip. So I thought it was rude of her to then wait until I bought my ticket and ask if they could stay here even longer than that. I could sense as well that she wanted me to let her perhaps come inside and water the indoor ones, or maybe even let her stay here while I am gone, since she is in-between houses. I did not offer this, and said initially that she could put the indoor ones on the porch. Then I thought about it further, and, knowing they would die out there (really...they for sure will, its hot and sunny here and I've had similar indoor plants and tried them outside and they die in like 2 days), said to her that she needs to come get the indoor ones before my trip and take them to her dads, but she can leave all the big outdoor ones here. She said that was fine, she didn't push me on it or anything, but I guess I just feel frustrated by the situation. Was I a jerk for setting that boundary? I don't want to stress out her grieving father, I just feel like she dumped her responsibilities onto me for longer than I am comfortable with and because of her mother's death the expectation is for me to just do what she wants indefinitely. This is so much bigger than my initial offer, or what I thought I was offering, which is to watch a handful of plants for a week or two. I realize it's mostly me failing to set good boundaries, but I guess my etiquette confusion is around how to set boundaries with someone who is going through a hard time, even if the first part of that hard time is somewhat self inflicted (the landlord thing)?
Thanks. Sorry this is so long.

2022.01.22 08:41 notundercovercop327 References to Up Down Quiz
Well I have to put my Ultra Quiz video on hold for a while. In the mean time, I'm planning a video on Up Down Quiz. for part of it, I'm trying to find as many things and references to it it in Japanese media as I can. Does anyone here have any suggestions/memories of shows, video games, anime or media that had a parody of the show's moving gondolas? Anyone who suggests anything used will get a credit in the video.

So I saw this challenge on tiktok last night, and I was amazed by the results you can get doing this for only 2 and a half months. I need some help deciding a diet, because I know nothing about nutrition or the different types of diets. Also is Gatorade Zero an option with the gallon of water a day?

Having the transmission replaced is obviously good for whoever buys the vehicle next, but don’t want the dealership to lower their offer due to it recently having a big mechanical issue

I feel like there are no digging spots anymore! Brindleton bay is the best location it seems but I want to live somewhere else with the same, if not more spots to dig for collectibles! Are there any mods out there or ways to make this better?
