2022.01.21 23:34 TheDeathMachineYGO How common is the "Hero Instinct" in men? And how common are "Amazon Chasers?"
OK, so I (24M) made a post on datingadvice that I've now deleted. To make a long story short, I plan on getting on the dating scene when Omicron blows over, but I lacked the "Hero Instinct", which made me worry that I would be less attractive to women. Lemme explain.
The "Hero Instinct", according to some people, is a desire for men to be a strong protector, provider, and hero for the woman in his life. That's one reason why a lot of tall guys love short girls. While I do think a big chunk of men want a more equal relationship nowadays, I do believe that a similar number of men still want to be the strong, manly hero for their girl. Opening those pesky jars for her, helping her with heavy objects, defending her from other guys, et cetera. It makes these men feel needed and useful.
As for me, I'm the total opposite. According to TV Tropes, I'm an Amazon Chaser--a man attracted to women who are tough and physically capable, rather than dainty and delicate(https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AmazonChaser). It's attractive to me when a woman is strong, has muscles or can fight well(especially if she's tall too), is willing to fight and even kill, is good with weapons, is tomboyish or her personality is masculine, et cetera. I will help someone who needs help, but I lack the instinct and desire to be a protector, and my type really reflects that.
A lot of the guys there said they don't have the Hero Instinct. They do minor physical things like opening jars, walking on the streetside of a sidewalk, and more to protect their girl. But they do it out of love, not because they want to adhere to that gender role of being the protector. I am convinced that men who want to take up that gender role still exist in a somewhat large amount. So for the sake of morbid curiosity, I'm asking you guys:
How common are men with the "Hero Instinct"? On a similar note, how common are men like me, who are Amazon Chasers? I'm legitimately curious.

2022.01.21 23:34 Fair_West New associate at large firm feeling overwhelmed
Any advice? I have an overwhelming amount of discovery coming due and the thought of working on it all weekend is making me feel sick.
My plan was to get all caught up and leave my laptop at work but a big task landed on my shoulders this afternoon that threw a wrench in that plan after I was feeling relieved for catching up. I’ve been sitting in my garage for 45 minutes, frozen, because I don’t want to carry my work laptop into my home.

2022.01.21 23:34 AI_FTW Missing chaise section of finnala couch for almost ONE YEAR
We bought a finnala chaise L-shaped sectional couch back in May 2021, in-store (Stoughton, MA). We got it delivered in July 2021, but it was missing the L-shaped piece (the chaise section) because, they claimed, it was out of stock. Ever since then, almost weekly, I've been calling them, talking to customer support, to the store, etc., and they keep mentioning that next month it should be back in stock, but then something happens and it's not, and again and again. Very frustrating, especially because we love the couch, and getting the last piece will make it whole and it feels like something is missing right now. At this point I feel like they no longer care about me, since I already paid for ALL in May 2021 so I think whenever they get new pieces in stock they just sell them to people in-store whose money they have not collected yet. What can I do about this? Any advice?
Thanks for the help,

misses when cards used to have little messages on the backs of them?…just random stats or fun little messages…like I’m pretty sure there was a Bo Jackson one year that said “Bo is knowledgeable about running”
Idk…just kinda miss those…they were fun to read and sometimes kinda interesting.

2022.01.21 23:34 Quiet_Cupcakess We need to take away the star review system for restaurants and do a pass/fail system instead!
I see people reviewing restaurants and leaving 4 and 3 star reviews because the meal did not come with a silver spoon. The star review system needs to go! People will do anything they can to find something wrong and it really hurts a business when you say "Everything was great! 4 stars!" Where the hell did the 5th star go?! Some people have been able to eat "the best food in the word" and have a super wide scope of what "good" is...others have a super slim scope so it does not even make sense when we all are carrying different sized rulers. We need to switch to a pass/fail thumbs up or down system so people can't just waddle away their feels when comparing the local French bistro to their 4 years in France! If it was bad say why it was bad, if it was good say why it was good. Just leave it at that!

2022.01.21 23:34 SunflowerBoy01 Just want to throw out some general advice I think someone else could use.
Recently I've found myself feeling paralyzed due to too many options for making music, and also just not feeling good enough at times.
There's just so many different plug-ins, vsts, sounds, effects, styles of music, genres, etc. to choose from, that sometimes it can be hard to pick where to start.
Something that helped me is just learning what sounds I actually like and getting rid of everything else.
Setting limits for yourself can help spark some creativity if youre feeling overwhelmed by too many choices.
Just pick a small set of sounds you want to use, and then create what feels right at the time of making it.
If youre like me and overthink literally everything in your art and criticize yourself harshly, learn to let go of that and just your music flow out of you, even if the end result isn't exactly what you want.
You'll learn from your failures and slowly become the artist you want to be. There's no rush to the best you can be, it'll come with time.
So if you've been struggling with any of the same thoughts or feelings or doubts I have, just know you're gonna be alright and you have everything you need to make the music you wanna make. It's just a matter of time, trial, and error.
Best of luck in your future productions :)
