2022.01.16 20:02 SanJJ_1 Tennis Player equivalents in other sports?
Regarding playstyle for example, Medvedev reminds me of Nikola Jokic in the NBA, both with very uncharacteristic style that seems almost unathletic, but it just works so well.

For those who have been out of school for some time. How did you go about addressing LoR? and beyond that have you found any proxy for professor letters? Such as letters from Pharmaceutical Directors of Research?

2022.01.16 20:02 RescueMutts22 Did I Fail?
My parents were married for 18 years and they split when I was 12 - my siblings and I were surprised. They fought, sometimes over stupid stuff, but we didn’t think a divorce would happen. After my parents announced their split and things started to change, my mom openly shared with us her reasons for asking for the divorce - years of infidelity. I’m happy she was honest, but looking back, it was a lot for my siblings and I. My mom was so angry - it’s like she made this decision to divorce my dad, but wanted him to suffer. She never verbally discouraged us from seeing our dad or having a relationship with our dad, but she’d always be in a bad mood when we returned from his house and she took a lot of her anger out on us. She turned mean. Things have gotten better overtime, but there is still this anger she has when I see my dad. I finally asked her why and she said she’s so disappointed in her adult children for not confronting their father about his choices and defending her. I reflected on it for a while and I don’t have an answer. Part of me thinks, “if my mom was so unhappy and not treated well by my dad, good for her for leaving” or “that’s not how a family should be so I’m glad the decision was made.” My dad has never said anything disrespectful about my mom in our presence and without a doubt I’d defend her. My dad was a great father, but not a good husband. I don’t know what to do or think about my moms response to me. Did I fail?

2022.01.16 20:02 Saucycabbage20sac Ranked can be so annoying sometimes…
I’ve been grinding training packs a few hours a day for the last month or so and my mechanics have been getting a lot better because of it. But Ive noticed that ranked can almost be setup to keep you were you are. I’ll play solos and win 2 games against people my rank fairly easily, then I play against someone who absolutely destroys me and I’m like what the hell this dudes doing ceiling shots and air dribbles like it’s nothing. Then I find out he’s unranked. Then I’ll play standard, win a few games, then all of a sudden my ping is like 300 for the next few games. I’ve won 2 official tournaments in the last 3 days and I find it so much easier than ranked! I played a diamond tournament with 2 guys who were champs last season and I got MVP every game except one, but then I go into ranked and one of my teammates isn’t playing, or they get mad and throw the game, or I play unranked people in duels. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I know I just need to keep training but it’s disheartening.

2022.01.16 20:02 purplesketches TIFU by sending a +18 link to my mom
Okay okay omg it just happened. This afternoon I was scrolling through reddit and saw a video of a guy naked and... you know... moving. Sent to my friend.
Now I'm sitting RIGHT BESIDE my mom and she received a link... from me... from reddit. She asked "what's this that you sent me" in a curious tone. Then read the title, which had "18" in it. I said "I don't know" and deleted it, already kinda panicking.
She said "There was 18 in it WHAT WAS IT" (not threatening just kinda shocked) and I "I DON'T KNOW" and start panicking laughing.
I went immediately to my friend's chat (bc I also just sent him ANOTHER +18 VIDEO) and saw that the earlier link was the same as the one I sent my mom. She saw. She said "open it I wanna see it". I opened and there he was, nakey nakey doing his little naked dance. She gasped. I gasped and laughed. That's it.
I don't know why the link sent to her now, if I sent it to my friend hours early.
I'm 21F btw.
TL;DR: Sent a +18 link to a friend hours early. Somehow it got sent to my mom now, right as I'm sitting next to her. Deleted the link but she saw the title and made me show her. (I'm 21F)

2022.01.16 20:02 ytcbv An interesting read about Lakman Pandey played by Atul Kulkarni from Rang De Basanti - Character Biopsies page in Facebook
The Laxman Pandey that we meet initially has been brainwashed into believing that India belongs to the Hindus and we need to protect our culture, and this marination is so strong that his political party's ideals have become his own. In 2006, when RDB released, such people existed but seemed like a rarity. Today, sadly, they are everywhere.
Pandey was an outsider to the group and hence for him, the sole motivation of the struggle was to fight for the truth. He was never close to Ajay. Revenge for Ajay's death didn't push him as much as realizing the hollowness of his government's ideologies did.
Pandey was a man born at the wrong time. While reciting ‘Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna’, his eyes gleam with pride for the country, and also a slight regret that he never will have an opportunity to die for his motherland. He has no solid villain like the British to oppose, so he looks for things within the country to fight against, like "western culture".
The journey of Pandey’s transformation begins as soon as he joins the project. He starts hanging out with the so-called morally corrupt youth and realizes they are all good people. Their ideologies differ from his, but that doesn’t make them bad or wrong. His eyes for Aslam begin to carry more empathy and less contempt.
Pandey's internalization of his documentary character Ramprasad Bismil also acts as a catalyst in molding him. Pandey is a Hindu extremist who won’t share a meal with a Muslim, but Bismil was a patriot with a Muslim companion and liberal mindset. Bismil helps Pandey evolve from being a proud Hindu to being a proud Indian, and that evolution gets completed in the gratifying moment where he snatches a Lathi Charging cop’s stick and beats him with it.
Pandey realizes that being anti-government is not equal to being an anti-national. You can love your country, and you can still question or challenge the people who are running it.
Laxman Pandey went from being a Right Wing Jingoistic Hindu Nationalist to being a woke and liberal activist. And there are high chances that you, the person reading this, may not be what Laxman Pandey was, but you are also far away from what Laxman Pandey became.
