2022.01.23 12:11 dildardonica Can somebody experienced double-check my Kubota-buying logic?

I am a first-time tractor shopper. I live in one of the snowiest regions in the US, and my primary use will be snow-blowing. I also have about 10 acres of dense woods that will eventually need some care and maintenance (not sure what yet--future homesite).
It's pretty common for people to own tractors in my town--most people seem to settle on a compact. I have not seen many sub-compacts.
I am probably buying new--I have more money than free time, and I'm not so mechanically-inclined that I can repair a broken tractor efficiently enough to make it worth my while.
I am guessing I'm looking at an LX-series, but if you think otherwise, let me know...very happy to hear suggestions for tires and any accessories that would make life easier.

2022.01.23 12:11 reneejessica22 Cellular Data

I have a question that I haven’t found a decent answer to. Should I leave cellular data on even when I’m connected to Wi-Fi? I have an unlimited plan so I’m not worried about going over but I was mostly wondering what the impact on the battery would be, if any. Thanks in advance!

2022.01.23 12:11 bestowcurse My experience flying a bird cross-country (long post)

like the title implies. this is not a tutorial but a combination of my experience first hand and some advice i hear here and there. i'm posting this mainly for the fact that when i tried looking up about people's experiences, i found barely any, so this is just giving an overview of my perspective and experience.
note: i don't think this violates the rules but just in case, sorry if it does!
first off: everyone's experience can be different. like i said, not a tutorial here, but i suffer from anxiety and reading about people's experiences help me mentally prepare.
a couple of days ago i flew with my cockatiel from new york to texas. i used delta for the flight and it was a somewhat easy experience.
i had to call the airline previously and ask about their pet policy. i was informed of a few things:

  1. there are two options, if he's small enough, he would be counted as a carry on. the fee was about $125. or i would buy him a seat and also pay the pet fee, cost was plane ticket (varies) + pet fee. note: this was the representative i spoke to, they may say something different to you. dont be afraid to ask questions.
  2. i would have to understand that the airline served a first come first serve basis for animals. which means i would have to get there earlier than i would just in case. which means longer time in a carrier which means my bird would be potentially more uncomfortable. keep this in mind when traveling and how comfortable the carrieyour animal is in a carrier.
  3. his carrier would have to fit specific dimensions for under seat. max dimensions were: 18” x 11” x 11”
  4. there were also specific seats we couldn't sit. like emergency exit rows. most of this can be found on the airline's website. this was somewhat important but i'll talk about it later.
since cockatiels are small birbs i was able to bring him as a carry on. which means i Had to check in a bag on the way back. the checked bag cost isn't much but keep this in mind if you're flying around holidays. most people bring in checked bags and sometimes planes can be too heavy and you could have to wait for your luggage to arrive on a different plane.
my recommendations for flight will always be, go on a random day in the week. you'll have less full seats and less people checking in a bag because a lot of people tend bring only a carry on those times.
this was the carrier i chose. specifically the medium size. it was ok and generally was a decent choice. there is a film that is over it that you have to remove that is annoying to do so due to the way it is attached to the carrier. but putting it together took 2 minutes. and the bottom doesn't absorb water and that was helpful when there was a spill. i easily took my bird to the bathroom and took care of the situation. i also got him two bowls. specifically ones that either have a stand or ring that the bowls can be removed on their own.
going through TSA meant that i was not allowed to have water in the bowls but at the gate i was able to give him some food and water by only opening the carrier to put in the bowls and remove them.
in the morning, i gave my bird some food and water and removed them right as i was about to leave. thankfully i had a early flight so i was able to get up and go asap. unfortunately, the weather was very cold in jersey so i wrapped him in 3 layers of towels for protection and limited his travel in cold weather to the best that i can. i had a thick jacket with me as well so if i thought it was cold enough, i would wrap him in that as well but i would only limit that when it was very cold so he is able to breathe properly.
as i was checking in, the workers there were very kind and he stole their hearts! which i dont blame them he is very cute. i payed the pet fee. the representative i spoke to said they ONLY take cash for pet fees but when i was there, they ONLY accepted credit. keep both forms of payment Just In Case with you.
once i checked my bag and payed the fee (the easy part) i went through TSA (somewhat hard part).
note: people will Always comment on the fact you have an animal. i didn't mind at first people asking me if they heard a bird or asking what kind of animal he is. but it was so common of a question, i began feeling Very Tired of talking. just be prepared for that. if you're autistic like me, have 2-3 lines lined up in your head to say them.
i went through TSA fairly normally. removed my other items but i informed them of my pet. the TSA employee told me to hold my bird (which i did). my boy does not like being held like that (i don't blame him) but there are situations where i have no choice like this! i clipped his wings ONLY FOR THE FLIGHT. i was informed that he may need to have vet records and clipped wings, neither of those became relevant but check with your airlines.
after they cleared me through, his carrier stayed behind so i had to hold him for longer (he wasn't happy and i, again, don't blame him). but another employee told me to never take him out of the carrier. so i have no idea what the actual ruling here is but be prepared for either option. i preferred him being held by me, because he was not subjected to the x-ray that could hurt him.
they checked my hands for bomb residue and once the carrier came by, i immediately put him back in. this was the hardest part of the experience in my opinion.
finally, i went to my gate. after grabbing a quick bite to eat, some water, i was able to give my boy his food and water. he was still covered but i let him see the world a little bit. basically i gave him some light, so he can see where he is, and be comforted by my presence since he was facing me. he did manage to eat food but i didn't see him drink water. i did not have the choice to give him cucumbers or some other water heavy food but that is an option.
at the gate, i felt one of his towels wet and took him into the bathroom. the water had spilled (unsurprising) but it was easy to clean up. essentially dabbing the bottom with towels until it was dry. i replaced the paper towels and that, thankfully, solved that problem.
at the gate he was loud and people were watching, annoyed, at him. there really wasn't anything i could do other than cover him again. he was still somewhat loud for a bit but settled in as we waited. some beeps here and there but a good boy!
once we were boarding, i was holding him and was asked what i was carrying. i mentioned an animal and they made me wait for a bit to confirm. it wasn't too bad but if you're running late (dont do that to begin with) they might stop you to make sure.
on the plane, some attendants asked if he was a cat and were surprised he was a bird. it was very cute!
so since there are specific seats i'm restricted to, i ended up sitting behind the engines. they were loud and my boy was clearly uncomfortable by the noise. i added my jacket over him once we were taking off to muffle some of the sound. since i was lucky and had an empty seat next to me, i placed by bird there. this is why i say getting a plane with less passengers on a random week in january was good. he technically was supposed to be under the seat before me but i didn't have to do that.
since he was covered and had a long day, he was quiet and took a little nap. i checked in on him every bit and he was annoyed at me waking him up. which is good in my eyes.
once we were off the flight and home, he was put in his cage and immediately drank water and ate food. the cage had only a few toys but not too many yet so he can settle in and adjust. after a day, i put in quite a few perches (he had a decent amount before now even More) and toys.
he's settled in but still experiencing jetlag! he'll take a few days to adjust to the hour difference for sleep but he's good.
TL;DR: i made a post about my experiencing taking a cockatiel on a plane on a cross-country flight. i made this because i found few people talking about their personal experiences and as an anxiety sufferer, i like to read first hand experiences to mentally prepare.

2022.01.23 12:11 Silverstoneman OMG WHYYYY

people keep talking about withdrawing money once it hits a number. what is wrong with you people. your gonna take your money out of centralized banking. invest into a decentralized financial network. and then withdraw your profits and put them back into a centralized finance! What. The idea is to take your money out the bank. Put it into crypto. And keep it there indefinitely. That’s how this works. The more people the believe in decentralized the more it grows in size and value. And mainstream adoption. if your here for a quick buck. Go buy a lottery ticket. If your here for a new future of global finance for you and the next generation you are the revolution.

A muscular viking woman. She wears a metal breastplate and a studded leather skirt. Her calves and forearms are wrapped in animal fur and the rest of her skin is exposed.
