2022.01.20 08:32 a_b1g_man Dear employees who work night-shifts, what's the most creepiest thing you've seen on your shift?
2022.01.20 08:32 NatarisPrime Spell AtK Bonus? Newb help.
Hello all. Just trying to get some help to make sure I'm doing this correctly.
Basic Info Lvl 1 Warlock Charisma = 18 (+4)
Are these correct?
1) Spellcasting Ability = Charisma
2) Spell Attack Modifier = 6 (4 Charisma + 2 Profeciency Bonus from Warlock lvl)
3) Spell Attack Bonus = 6 (4 Charisma + 2 Profeciency Bonus from Warlock lvl)
4) What exactly is the difference? Modifier is listed in the warlock page and spell attack bonus is listed on the character sheet. Are these always the same?
Thanks for the help. Just trying to make sure I have this stuff down.

2022.01.20 08:32 ThomasMBeck Translation of podcasts into German
I follow your lectures and podcasts on youtube with great interest and enthusiasm. Again and again I am inspired by the depth and importance of your thoughts and have also been able to draw inspiration for my own life and thinking from them.
At the age of 67, I am no longer in a phase of life in which it is primarily a matter of getting my own life 'on track'. But I have time, and I would like to spend some of my time helping to make your podcasts accessible to people from the German-speaking world. Because I have experienced several times that even academically educated people from my circle of friends and acquaintances had language problems and therefore did not listen to podcasts to which I had sent them a link, or did not listen to them completely. On the occasion of your talk with the Russians, I realised that there are obviously people in your team who do translations so that the podcasts can be subtitled in Russian.
Is there such a team for the German-speaking world as well? If yes, I would very much like to work with them. If not - I could imagine translating e.g. one or two podcasts per month into German if an English transcript is sent to me. With the German transcript I provide, the podcast could then be subtitled by your team for the German-speaking world.
Am I qualified to do this? I am not an official interpreter or translator, but I listen to a lot of English podcasts and understand 99% of them. By training, I am a veterinarian with a second degree in psychology, and was co-owner of a small healthcare market research and marketing support institute. Since we occasionally had clients from the English-speaking world, I am practised in translating texts from English into German and vice versa with the really good tool Deep-L, checking the Deep-L translation and correcting it where necessary.
I also wrote this mail in German and then translated it with Deep-L, I hope it turned out to be a reasonable English text.
Even though I, as a strongly committed member of the Swiss Green Liberals, do not always agree 100% with your political statements, I think that it would be really important for your podcasts to receive even more attention in the German-speaking world, and I would be very happy to be able to contribute to this. Please contact me by e-mail if you think, I can contribute: email@example.com

2022.01.20 08:32 DonShmore What are the facial features of an Indian?
I'm a South African Coloured, which means I am hella mixed. But whats for sure is that I look Desi. When I lived in Saudi, shopkeepers would automatically start speaking hindi or urdu to me.
So I know I resemble, but I want to know what EXACTLY it is that makes you look Indian. How does one distinguish one looks Indian?
Hope this aint a stupid question...

2022.01.20 08:32 Taco-takkerson EHS is annoying af
I'm a 25y old female and have had EHS for about 1.5y now. I tend to have periods of sever insomnia and usually get EHS when I have these insomnia episodes. Weirdly enough for me it usually occurs not when I try to fall asleep, but when I am trying to fall asleep for a seond time after having woken up (to go pee or somthing). Especially when I have loads of trouble actually falling asleep this will happen. For me it's a ringing sound (the sounds of a knife beind shapened). It does not wale me up or anything but it is rather annoying. Usually I just try to ignore it, bc once I am actually asleep it stops. So for me it occurs when im kinda inbetween awake and asleep. Was wondering if anyone has it like this as well? And of so any tips that help?

2022.01.20 08:32 _Radish_Spirit_ Bigotry is beta as fuck
Does a meat grinder care about the cow it's grinding into beef? Does it stop to consider the cow's belief system or its sexual habits?
The Sigma is a puppeteer among marionettes, an Olympian among the elderly. For such an individual to direct hatred at others is to demean themself and squander their attention.
It's time to lose the bigotry and up the grindset.

2022.01.20 08:32 dr00Ze question: How to orchestrate a lot of Synapse pipelines?
background: company moving from Kubeflow on kubernetes cluster on AWS to Azure and Synapse (company policy, this is a given). We have data landing on S3/ADLS in parquet, it needs to be checked, processed, turned in useful data, and made accessible to users via python and SQL.
We work with the bronze - silver - gold principle. Raw data lands on the datalake, gets checked, put into silver, flat tables are made so they can be used for dashboarding and modeling in gold.
Data lands as parquet, silver and gold will be delta lake (probably, unless anyone has a reason not to) to allow for schema changes over time.
Data will be landing in batch, daily, usually in the early morning. there's about 50 distinct tables/files coming into RAW (bronze). These need to be checked one by one, and copied to silver (bronze is immutable) in delta lake format. The gold tables generally take multiple inputs before they can be made. Usually the order and timing of input tables is quite stable, but there have been many instances where it wasn't.
we want to use Delta lake as storage, spark clusters as compute, synapse notebooks for code, and pyspark and sparkSQL as languages.
We currently have much of our logic in .py files with functions, and .sql files that take arguments (eg. date).
we want to register tables in a sparkDB in synapse, but will perhaps use serverless sql pool to have data accessible via ODBC (so the serverless sql will be read-only, and should have all the same tables as the sparkDB if I read MS's docs correctly).
We'll develop code and pipelines in a LAB Synapse instance, and push to a Factory synapse instance via Azure DevOps.
What is a best practice to orchestrate all these pipelines, so they can run when their data is available? The first step should be easy, just create a file trigger to launch the pipeline (with notebook step) when a data file lands.
Subsequent pipelines that take only one input can be triggered by the finishing of the previous pipeline, or we could do this as a second step in the same pipeline. I prefer to separate these pipelines to make it easier to correct things and rerun pipelines.
This will probably mean that for 50 tables and a load more finished tables in gold, there will be anywhere from 200 to 400 distinct pipelines. There will only be a few categories/kinds of pipelines (copy data, check data, use input data to calculate new data, export data to on-prem), but each with distinct logic tailored to the data in it.
Currently, we have general kubeflow pipelines that run distinct code based on arguments. Eg the compute-data pipeline is generic, and reads all new files in Bronze. it finds foo.parquet, so runs with the foo argument, reads the foo.py logic file, and executes the foo.sql file. If it then finds the bar.parquet file, same thing but for bar. Rinse and repeat.
Is there a way to way to properly do this in synapse?
Also, how can states be passed through pipelines? Say the table garply needs both foo and bar, but these run at different times. how does the compute-data pipeline know when both foo and bar have been updated to the latest snapshot?
I'm currently thinking of writing logs to a DB, which some kind of meta-pipe can then read to check on states. Something like Neo4j which would also allow us to visualize the state of the DB throughout the day, and what pipelines are running and failing.
But perhaps there's a better (and less NIH) way.
All input from people with experience on Synapse with lots of orchestration is welcome!
