2022.01.24 15:03 atheistvegeta Can you review my writing?
I will discuss yet another example Dawkins gives in his book The Greatest Show on Earth.
Dawkins brings up rat teeth in his book. Rats have teeth which decay often. Learners may question why natural selection has lead to tooth caries in rats rather healthy teeth. Calcium is required to strengthen teeth and bones. Having less calcium in the teeth leads to having weak bones which makes it harder to escape predators. The point illustrated in this example is that natural selection occurs in a manner that the organism benefits in one department at the expense of another. There is something I don't understand. Why can't rats' bodies produce enough calcium to have health teeth and healthy bones in other parts of their bodies simultaneously?

2022.01.24 15:03 Alternative-Habit789 What kind of noise cancelling headphones do you have?
I want some. I got ear buds but they don’t work very well. I didn’t want anything obvious but I don’t care anymore if it will cancel out more than these are. I need some for school the hallways are really hard for me. I don’t want any that play music, just some that block out noise. Any suggestions?

2022.01.24 15:03 autotldr WeChat Denies Australian PM's Account Was Hacked
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 65%. (I'm a bot)
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison's WeChat account has disappeared, prompting accusations of Chinese "Interference" from senior members of his government on Monday.
"Based on our information, this appears to be a dispute over account ownership - the account in question was originally registered by a PRC individual and was subsequently transferred to its current operator, a technology services company," a Tencent spokesman said.
The account has posts dating back to February 1, 2019, including Morrison's first, which reads: "I'm very happy to open my official WeChat account."
It's understood the Australian prime minister had a Weixin account, which needs to be registered by someone in mainland China, rather than a WeChat account, which can be accessed by overseas users.
Morrison first launched his WeChat account to communicate with Australia's sizeable Chinese-Australian community ahead of the country's last federal election in 2019.
All of the posts on the "Australian Chinese new life" account relate to Australian government announcements or messages from Morrison.

2022.01.24 15:03 Neon_Fantasies Minors shouldn't be able to make posts in AITA
I do not believe anyone under 18 should be able to post their real or hypothetical situation to AITA. Obviously there are a lot of teenagers pretending to be adults on the sub; this is not about them. This is about the posts that start with, 'I (F14)' or 'I (M16)', you get the idea.
It's safe to assume that the AITA comments section is comprised half of teenagers and half of genuine adults, most of the adults obviously getting a kick out of the drama rather than resolving the issue. We see how much they shit themselves over insults and comebacks. Neither of these groups are who a minor should be turning to for help.
If a minor has a problem that they think warrants strangers on Reddit to help them, they should be talking to someone in their actual life, whether it be their parents/other family members, or if that's not possible, teachers, youth advisors and charities such as ChildLine where trained professionals can point them in the right direction. These problems are more often than not quite petty, since AITA forbids you from posting about violent encounters and similar - however, petty situations can result in very extreme responses, which aren't against the rules. Hell, there was a comment on a post a few days ago where someone literally said that the point of AITA is to read between the lines and basically fill in the gaps yourself.
Any issue like a friendship breakdown or getting pissy at having to take care of your 8 year old sister for a few hours should be dealt with face-to-face communication. It's important for teenagers to understand how to develop healthy relationships by communicating their thoughts and needs. Adults are different; if they want to be stubborn, there's not a lot you can do to change them.
Example: let's say, a 15 year old posts to AITA about how much of a bitch their mom is, because she just got off a 12 hour shift and just gave them yesterday's leftover spaghetti instead of cooking a 3 course meal. Typical responses include: 'Your mom needs therapy!', 'Go no contact!' 'You should post this to raisedbynarcissists!' This is dangerous and disturbing. Grown adults on the Internet should absolutely not be trying to influence this teenager's life when they don't know any other aspect of their life. And with the nature of teenagers, they will almost always make it deliberately one-sided, or exaggerate. Also, other teenagers shouldn't be masquerading as adults and doing the same thing.
A teenager is so easily influenced especially on social media. AITA are irresponsible for this.

2022.01.24 15:03 NovaHands For those of you around the 1-year post-op mark, what kind of swelling do you experience?
I'm at 10 months myself, and I'm starting to notice certain things cause swelling where others don't.
It seems to me that the amount of time I do activities/exercises has more of an impact than the type of activity I do.
For instance, last week I was doing single leg squats with a resistance band and felt fine overall. This week, I ice skated for an hour doing some conditioning for return to sport, and now if I try to do a single leg squat, my knee feels strained and it's still a little swollen.
Does anyone else experience swelling based on the length of a workout? Or is it more based on the demands of the workout itself?
