2022.01.26 20:27 PokemonGoUs3r Help feeding tree frogs

So I have 5 whites tree frogs and when I feed them I move them to another container. I never have issues with 2 of them they all eat really good but the other three are off and on one day they’ll eat but then the other they just sit there and try to escape ignoring the crickets. What can I do? It’s not like they aren’t eating it’s just they aren’t taking it. They have eaten before so I’m not worried about them starving but how can I get them to eat most of the time?

2022.01.26 20:27 seacobs Why are manhwas more original than Chinese stuffs?

I noticed manhwas were less original than mangas, but the characters are much more mature and the stories are much more grounded in reality, which is good, but compared to the stuffs coming from China I would say Korea is light years ahead in terms of creativity, which is surprising. Why is that? I honestly think China needs someone like me.

There is so much conflict in my office. I'm there every day but others come in once to twice a week. They try to unload their work on me because I'm there so much. And I refuse, so they throw things around and act rude. I usually shy away from conflict. Any tips?

2022.01.26 20:27 RiceRedandBeans Will Eating Below Maintenance During Refeeds Slow My Metabolism?

SW: 188, CW: 178, GW: 165
After failing to cut much weight with daily caloric restriction last year, I switched over to extended fasts at the beginning of the month, first beginning with alternate-day fasting. In the first week, I lost 7lbs, but then I hit a plateau and began breaking my fasts at night, only 24-26 hours in. I caved into stress from worsened insomnia, weight loss plateau, hunger pains, and external issues like job searching and school.
Then, I began to follow the recommendations about supplementing with electrolytes, and they made a world of difference for me. Taking a few swigs of water with sodium and potassium throughout the day has helped me get back on track and even extend my fasts from 36 to 40+ hours, with 48 being my longest ever. My hunger isn't as pronounced with electrolytes, and I have way more energy and drive to exercise and study.
The issue now is my refeeds. I track my calories during my refeeds and eat all my food within a one-hour window. However, after eating one nutrient-dense meal consisting of meat, veggies, and fruit, I usually feel like I'm going to explode after eating 800-1,000 calories. From that point onward, I just force-feed calorie-dense foods like milk, heavy cream with fruit, peanut butter, and junk like cake and brownies (still need to work on cutting out the sugar) to hit maintenance. I do resistance training (weights and calisthenics) and cardio (usually treadmill walking on 12% incline but occasionally HIIT) 3-4 times a week and aim to eat 2,500 calories when I break my fast. However, I was wondering if only eating until I'm full, say 1,000 calories, will slow my metabolism?
Aside from achieving and maintaining my goal weight, my hope is that this method will eliminate the excuse to eat so much junk food and stop me from looking like a glutton when eating in front of others like my family and roommates. In any case, I want to commit to prolonged fasts for life, as all other weight loss methods like caloric restriction and even intermittent fasting for 16 to 23 hours haven't been as effective for me. I've been either obese or overweight my entire life and want to finally put an end to being fat.

2022.01.26 20:27 cameronnn16 Thoughts?

I saw a thing someone said in this sub a while back and it was talking about how sometimes even though it’s rocd it could also just be that you don’t love them. Like ocd people can still not love someone as easily as a regular person doesn’t. Something about how we can’t blame everything on ocd and sometimes it just means that we don’t want to be with them.

2022.01.26 20:27 Kingkusnacht Path of Destruction - A disappointing re-read

So, I recently decided to reread the Darth Bane trilogy, which used to be some of my favourite SW books (and also some of the first SW novels I ever read. The first part of the trilogy reread, Path of Destruction, formerly one of my favourite SW novels, has turned out to be a bitter disappointment to be frank. Let me summarise my thoughts:

I already had a lot of investment in Bane's character going into this reread, though upon closer analysis, I do somewhat struggle to see why people like Bane so much. He's not really likeable obviously, though unlike other villains Bane isn't really that charming, nor that passionate nor even that wise (having only been studying the Force for like 2-3 years). I respect his dedication to the Rule of Two concept, though there is not much more to like or even be interested in. The timescale of 2-3 years at the Academy also makes Bane's meteoric rise feel somewhat unbelievable and dare I say, a bit unearned.
I really enjoyed Ka'sim, I dare say he is quite underrated. It was a shame and a strange decision to kill him off first (out of the Sith masters) given that he was the only one to possibly pose Bane a challenge. Githany was also decent. She had an interesting arc and her demise was impactful and shocking, even though I already knew what was going to happen.
Kaan was baffling to me. Bane heavily criticised his ways and Kaan even acted like a fool on numerous occasions (like him ordering "all" Sith to Ruusan, yes "all"). But then we're also supposed to believe that the same man was able to build a Brotherhood in like 20-30 years that threatened the entire galaxy. Seems like he did better than most Sith despite constantly making foolish strategic choices and not feeling like a threat at all.
The others, Qordis, Kopicz, Sirak and Hoth were all quite static and hollow and could have used some more screen time to be fleshed out as the concept in itself wasn't bad for any of them. Maybe one could have expanded upon Qordis and Kopicz's apparent rivalry. Generally, I think the book could have benefited from more focus on other characters' POVs.

The story:
Overall, I think the story has many merits. The story serves our main character quite well and the era is quite interesting. The number of character deaths for a SW book is crazy and fits with the tone.
The start is a bit of a slog though on reread, particularly the elongated Sabacc game. I had been more interested in Bane's time as a regular soldier for the Sith, which was all too brief. I felt more background on the political conflict would have generally added more to the story.
Another misstep in my opinion was that Bane never met Kaan until the very end. He constantly rants about Kaan's plans though doesn't really have a better way to defeat the Jedi in his lifetime. It was a weird decision given that Kaan is kind of the ultimate villain and Bane has such a distaste for him.
One fact that I had also forgotten about and which annoyed me quite a bit is that the foundations for Bane's entire belief system stem entirely and directly from Revan, who tells him practically everything word for word. This is disappointing as it really detracts from Bane. I'd wish he'd come with the Rule of Two concept by himself, and then maybe later (in the 2nd book or so) could have read about something similar.
Another underwhelming aspect that I had totally forgotten about was that Bane conveniently found Zannah during the epilogue of the book. I guess he just randomly happened to stumble upon it. I had in fact misremembered this (thinking that he wouldn't meet her until the beginning of book 2). sure, one can use the excuse that the "Force was meant to bring them together" though to me it felt like lame storytelling in this reread.

One thing I did still really appreciate was the dark, sinister tone that was established early and carried out throughout the rest of the story. The dialogue was at times also good and featured some iconic lines.
The prose, stylistic choice and narrative thrust were all about average for me, though I did have some problems with the pacing, with it at times being a bit unclear how long Bane had been at the academy and when exactly he had gained such strong use of force lightning (e.g. when destroying the Lehon temple).

Overall, I was quite disappointed. It wasn't a total disaster on reread, but underwhelming for sure. My verdict is around a 5.5 / 10.

Do you agree or disagree with this somewhat unpopular opinion? And what books have been a bit disappointing on a re-read?
