2022.01.21 23:58 Foucaults-Bald-Head How do you a finish a fic?

I've been working on a fic for almost two years now and am getting to the point where I'm ready to finish it in a few chapters, but I'm feeling stuck on writing the ending. I know HOW I want the fic to end (I have since the beginning) but I'm having trouble getting from where I am now to that final ending point, not because I don't know WHAT to write, but because I'm so scared it won't be GOOD enough.
See, the fic was started as something to do in my spare time just because I like to write, but it ended up getting more popular than I thought it would (not super popular--about 10k hits and within the top ten WIP by kudos for that pairing on ao3, which was more than I expected for my first fic). I'm not bragging. I'm PANICKING. It's been over a month since my last update, and I'm just so afraid to write anymore, because I'm worried that everyone who has been reading and leaving comments/kudos is going to be disappointed with the ending, or that the last few chapters aren't going to seem worth the wait.
So I suppose I have two questions:

  1. As a reader, what do you like to see in the ending of a fic? What have you found works, and what definitely doesn't work?
  2. As a writer, how do you get past the F E A R of expectations and just write?

I am great at sales. I love communicating with people and they love communicating with me. Since I am jack of all trades, digital marketing speaking, (I know every field a bit) I was thinking about starting a digital marketing agency. I know just enough to explain how X service can benefit a client. I find 4 people, 4 people who are experts at what they do-Copywriting, Google SEO, Social Media management and Fb/Ig Ads, and I take care of sales. They get paid based salary, and more sales I make, more money into my pocket. If I see that employees are overwhelmed by work, aka cannot do a quality work to a current number of clients, I hire more people.
Would this concept work? What could go wrong? Do you know anyone who does this? If you do please leave me their contact <3 What are some things I need to look out for when starting this? Thank you all in advance, means a lot.

2022.01.21 23:58 throwaway36283728 I just had the biggest reality check of my young life today.

For some context. Donโ€™t want to give away too much about myself, but Iโ€™m a college student who got a med card to self medicate for anxiety and depression. It started out great, i was feeling awesome and was only using on weekends or when I had a bad day. But this soon turned into daily use, which led to me trying to scale back and take it back to weekends only which didnโ€™t last at all, so Iโ€™m back to doing daily, wake and bake, before bed, everything. It seemed to make my depression worse - the way I was coping with reality was by not participating. I withdrew from everyone socially and spent hundreds (thankfully not thousands) just to toilet my own life.
Anyways, I was eating dinner in the dining hall by myself since Iโ€™ve withdrawn and a friend I had before having these issues cracked a joke like โ€œwhere have you been man havenโ€™t seen you around in a while you got a secretary now or something?โ€ And man that just hit me. I realized how much I let this stuff change me.
Weed isnโ€™t some life destroying addictive substance for me, but itโ€™s definitely kept me from really continually developing myself and my social relationships. Iโ€™m smoking the last of my stash right now, and Iโ€™m determined not to buy any more for personal use indefinitely. I expect to still use here and there with friends at parties for example but nothing by myself. (Maybe Iโ€™ll go back to weekends only next year when I can consume a different way than carts - these things have messed me up).

2022.01.21 23:58 statusconference Gas is my #1 symptom and it's ruining my life

Apologies for the long post but am at my wit's end. Feel like I've tried literally everything to fix my health issues. Posting here in the hope that you guys have some ideas because it's the digestive health (or lack of it) that affects my life the most.

I'm embarassed to talk about this even on Reddit but it's gotten to the point where I don't socialise, don't like eating with other people, and am worried I'll be single for the rest of my life. Not to mention being in nearly constant pain and discomfort and the number that does on my mental health.
For context I'm almost certain I have a massive hiatal hernia so the worst of the gas pain builds up just under my ribcage on the right side. I think the hernia or my stomach gets so stretched it's actually caused issues with my spine, shoulder and posture. When the gas buildup gets especially bad it feels like the circulation to my right leg gets cut off - sometimes to the point where I lose nearly all feeling in the lower half of my leg. I've ended up with limp often and I think it's all mucked up my gait because I don't walk normally and should probably see a physio.
Usually the gas bubbles up my throat when I lie down to sleep, and usually once it starts I can't make it stop. After a night of uncontrollable belching and the gas being released the circulation comes back to my leg so I know that's the issue. I don't know why that happens - whether my spine or pelvis is rotated on that side more than the other - but nevertheless I know gas is the culprit.
The thing that distresses me most is the belching uncontrollably at night. For hours. It feels like drowning in air. The worst nights are when I have belching and flatulence at once, though I seem to get the farts far less often than burps. It happens at least twice a week on average.
The worst days are when I get the urge to belch in the morning and make the mistake of letting go, because sometimes I can't stop it at all. And I end up stuck for an hour of essentially vomiting out all the air that is in my digestive system. Which, to be fair, means I feel much more comfortable and am in much less pain after, but it's a deeply uncomfortable and inconvenient experience that has meant being late for work on several occasions.
Everything seems to cause gas buildup. I've tried piles of probiotics, didn't seem to have an impact. I've cut out fruit almost entirely and don't eat a great deal of vegetables. Can't have dairy either because I'll be sick for days, as well as have horrendous brain fog. I eventually discovered the fruit and dairy were also the source of the chronic diarrhoea I'd been suffering for years previously.
I am tempted to try going entirely zero carb just to give my poor guts a break - but a high fat intake sets off much the same symptoms, with a side of diarrhoea. Anything with a high fat content seems to do it - nuts, coconut milk or yoghurt, Chia seeds, eggs, etc.
I need to try a low fodmap diet again but given just about everything I eat seems to set off one kind of symptom or another - whether allergic/inflammation or digestive - I'm reluctant to make a limited diet even more restricted.
I'm on thyroxine due to having no thyroid and currently suffering mild constipation that I think is due to tsh levels being slightly too high. I'll try and fix that by taking the tablets even earlier in the morning, further away from food or any other potential interactions.
I take iron supplements for low(er) ferritin and they don't seem to induce constipation like so many articles suggest - if anything they make me more regular. I try and take hemp seed oil and vitamin D every day, and take a fair amount of magnesium. I haven't had my vitamin D tested for a few years so will try and get that organised.
I take Vyvanse (for ADHD) which unquestionably makes the gassiness and reactivity to diet worse - but it's also the only thing enabling me to be a functional, still-employed human being right now so it needs to stay.
I also take Montelukast to cope with an allergic-like inflammatory response I've been suffering the last several years. It works beautifully - if I stay away from nightshades, gluten, dairy, and coffee. I don't know why - the immunologist said I have over-excitable mast cells and didn't really explain anything. Google tells me it might be mast cell activation syndrome which would certainly explain a lot.
I've had low iron and iron deficiency several times in past years. My ferritin was 41 ug/L in June so the GP put me on supplements every second day. It then fell to 30 ug/L by November 2021 so I started taking them daily. It's back to 42 ug/L in Jan 2022. Hemoglobin is also fine at 129 g/L so not anemic.
Also not vegetarian. Fish tends to give me hayfever so I avoid it when I can, as does chicken unless it's fresh and freshly cooked. Eating beef always makes me feel better though only tends to happen once a week at most because I just forget to do it.
I've tried various types of simethicone (minor success). I've tried so many types of peppermint and relaxing teas. I've tried peppermint oils, which are a bit more useful than the simethicone but don't really solve the problem.
I've tried psyllium husk but not for more than very short periods as I'm worried that'll just make things worse. High fibre intake just doesn't seem to agree with me. It's hard to tell if the psyllium husk worked because I don't think I've used it for long enough.
Slippery elm bark does seem to help calm things down (which reminds me, I need to go buy some). I've tried tumeric and various other anti-inflammatory herbs and supplements which helped me feel better but doesn't really help the digestive issues.
I've recently been referred for an endoscopy, though it's in the Australian public health system and we're struggling with the load even before Covid, so I expect it will be a 6-12 month wait for that to happen.
Recently I got my blood test results back which included B12. I was astonished when after the appointment for the results I looked at the paperwork myself and it said my B12 was 154 pmol/L (ref range is 139-651 pmol/L). Lowest it's ever been in my life and the doctor didn't even mention anything about it or b12. There's an Australian Government report released by Medicare published recently that said that anything below 200 should be considered deficient. I went and bought supplements and have been taking them the last couple days, and they seem to be making things better already.
At the risk of making this already epic post even longer I won't go into the B12 related symptoms I'd been suffering for so long that seem to be improving already, because it's a long list. I am hoping that correcting my B12 levels might help the gut issues and gas but I'm not too optimistic.
I also tested negative for helicobacter pylori and celiac.
I do occasionally get reflux but I assumed that was just from the possible hernia and being overweight, or the odd day where I've had too much coffee or vitamin C. I don't think I have gastroparesis. Have never been tested for atrophic gastritis and it doesn't sound like it quite fits but I might investigate it anyway because I've tried everything else.
*From what research I've done over the last few days and my recent low levels of serum B12, getting those levels back up to 400+ might help with the gut issues. Does anyone know if normalising my B12 might help with the excessive gas production? Does anyone have any questions, thoughts or suggestions? *
