2022.01.22 07:47 Throwawayking1w Dear Lizzie,
Lizzie, I don’t know why I’m writing this. I shouldn’t be writing this. It’s 4:30 in the morning, I’m married now and you’re happy with the love of your life. But whenever I look back to my past and how things were before they fell apart you’re the only constant I have. I hate that we don’t talk anymore, I hate that we aren’t as close as we used to be, I hate not having the freedom and lack of responsibility and just being crazy teenagers together. I told you things about me that I have never been able to tell another soul. We connected so deeply and so emotionally that the wounds still hurt.
You are my one that got away. Fuck that sounds weird to say but I’ll never get over the life that we could of had. I don’t even know if you felt that way for me. I guess I’m just really upset that I set a limit for myself I was afraid to take a risk and lose you. I convinced myself that you were too good for me (yeah shitty excuse right?) During the time of us “talking” I had a real bad time with my body image. I’ve always been the big kid and I just couldn’t believe that someone white, skinny and beautiful could love me. I play back the nights we spent together and our seldom kisses over and over again in my head and I just felt like my bias was confirmed once Grant stepped in to the picture. He made me so insecure, he was everything that I wasn’t. it really hurt my feelings when you brought him around, it’s not your fault I know you didn’t know it hurt me but damn it really did. I had so many opportunities to ignite the spark between us but never had the courage to do so. It will be my life’s biggest regret.
Although I’m not moved on from you and maybe I never will be I miss you in my life. Things have changed so much in reality I just miss the doe-eyed loving friend I used to have. You’ll always have a place in my heart. -R

2022.01.22 07:47 Brilliant_Meaning321 The item rework has failed in one of its main goals
One of the main goals of the item rework as stated by riot was that they wanted to increase build item diversity with the new mythic system and item overhaul. As we all know that has not happened, so that means the rework failed its goal.
However, I personally don’t know why riot ever felt the need to put this as a goal for the item rework anyway. The way items are in league is honestly not conducive to ever achieving item diversity. Items in league are for the most part, stat sticks, with passives that typically just further augment stats under specific circumstances. There will always be a best build for a champion when items are like this, and people will always build what is best. With the exception of anti-heal/shield there are not that many situational items that are worth building instead of going the optimal route. There is a reason off meta builds on champs typically have a lower winrate than meta builds, because they are almost always strictly worse.
The only way league could create true build diversity would be to actually completely change items as we know them. They would have to give less or maybe even no stats, and basically all be active items with stronger effects than the current active items in game, similar to DOTA. And a change like this would actually change league entirely and alienate plenty of players.
So the item rework did fail one of its main goals, and I’m ok with that. I honestly never expected them to succeed in creating build diversity because that’s not how league items work.

2022.01.22 07:47 Scot-in-London Advice on cooking a Tomahawk steak on bbq.
I'm looking for a bit of advice, as someone who generally only cooks sirloin or fillet on a griddle pan. We are cooking a tomahawk steak tomorrow on the bbq and I was wondering if anyone had any cooking advice. Do I just go straight onto the grill? Would I want to cook in the oven first? Any and all advice would be welcome.

2022.01.22 07:47 Electronic_Ad_2395 How can I deal with ROCD and Long distance relationship? I'm afraid of it
Im getting desperate.
I don't know what to do anymore and I'm getting in a point where I don't know what to do.
I really love my boyfriend. It's awesome. Our relationship is really cool. I love it.
But I have ROCD.
And that makes everything difficult.
We have a long distance relationship and now he is working. He comes home really tired after all day working. And then we don't have a lot of time to talk.
He really needs the money
And now it makes it a lot harder. I've been obcessing about it and worried because me and my partner don't talk a lot. It's been stuck in my head all day
I started ERP therapy recently. I was really excited (I had ROCD in past relationship before but it was a lot worse-now I know the thoughts are not real)
But I don't know. The fact that we don't talk a lot makes it difficult. For me the distance wouldn't make such a difference because we talked a lot but now we don't. And it makes it so hard to deal with.
He says that is a phase. One day we'll be together everyday and we don't have to go through this. But I feel anxious a lot and I can't get the thoughts out of my mind
I thought about breaking up. But I don't know if it's a good idea. I'm starting therapy now and it's just a phase. I was going to see him this month but I don't know what to do.
Should I talk to him? Is this worth it? I'm confused

2022.01.22 07:47 ThumbGardening What is Paphiopedilum (Venus Slipper): Planting, Growing and Nursing
Today, Paphiopedilum flowers have been almost replaced by the hardy Paphiopedilum. Luxuriously flowering, small, and very versatile, Paphiopedilum is orchids that can be enjoyed indefinitely. Nostalgic and fashionable at the same time, they remain unfamiliar plants to many, shrouded in myth and legend. In practice, they are much friendlier than their royal reputation would suggest. paphiopedilum will not bloom without proper care, conditions are not standard, but they have adapted well to living rooms. You will learn how to grow Paphiopedilum plants in the ThumbGarden article.
DESCRIPTION OF PAPHIOPEDILUM (VENUS SLIPPER) PLANT
Paphiopedilum (Venus Slipper), as opposed to the beautiful nickname "cannibal flower", is a name that is not familiar to every florist. Named after the ancient Roman goddess, orchids became a legend long before their counterparts became almost mandatory to grow, and a large number of unpretentious hybrids have made the dream of orchids a reality for many enthusiasts. Paphiopedilums (Paphiopedilum, officially "Paph") are terrestrial, symbiotic, medium-sized orchids of the Cypripedium (Slipper orchids) family. Considering the length of the flowering stems, the maximum height of the plant is only 8-20 inches (20-50 cm). However, Paphiopedilum is certainly not inconspicuous. The rhizomes are very short and all Paphiopedilum have very strong well-developed fleshy roots. They develop in the typical way of symbiotic orchids - the "rosette" flowers only once, release a flower stalk, and then do not flower again. The succession rosettes are picked up by daughter plants growing at the base of the parent rootstock and replacing them. This plant is never grown as a single specimen, but only in families or groups of three rhizomes that continually produce new offspring. The typical orchid-like strap-like leaves with strong spikes and central folds look very neat and stiff. Leaves can reach 23 inches (60 cm) in length and are limited to a few times smaller in some species. They are monochromatic, bright green, or marbled and sit in a peculiar bilateral rosette. Paphiopedilum leaves grow quite vigorously and turn yellow and brown before wilting. In Paphiopedilum, a smaller signal or stop leaf appears in the center of the rosette just before the flowering stems are released, seemingly to herald the beginning of the flowering period.
PAPHIOPEDILUM (VENUS SLIPPER) FLOWERING
The flowering stems of Paphiopedilum develop from the center of the rosette. They are usually fairly straight and smooth, longer than the leaves. Named for the swollen shape of its large lips, Paphiopedilum does resemble the elegant Paphiopedilum. it is the only orchid that has three "petals" in its flowers. The upper sepal is rightly compared to sail; it is very large, bright, patterned, and slightly angled to protect the lips. The shape and size of the upper sepals are always different from the two lateral sepals, and neither of them bears any resemblance in color to the lips. The patterns are contrasting and striking. 'Paphiopedilum' has three anthers at a time - a sterile, shield-like one and two sturdy ones. This is a spring-flowering orchid. The natural flowering time for orchids is when daylight hours increase. However, depending on conditions and care, Paphiopedilum flowering can be delayed indefinitely, postponed, or continue indefinitely.
The palette of Paphiopedilum flowers includes all known hues and halftones in all parts of the spectrum except blue. Whites, yellows, pinks, purples, violets, greens, browns - the shades and combinations of most polychromatic flowers are endlessly varied. And the beauty of the patterns - from tiny spots to blotches, stripes, and ripples - is amazingly varied.
VARIETIES OF PAPHIOPEDILUM PLANTS
This orchid is rightly considered to be the most diverse of all. However, all Paphiopedilum stand out in some special way. They differ in the conditions and care required and in the many nuances of cultivation, but the key to identifying the different groups and classes lies in their flowers. This is the beginning of determining what this orchid needs in order to bloom to its full potential in your home. Based on their flowering patterns, Paphiopedilum is divided into three broad groups - single-flowered, multi-flowered, and continuously flowering species and varieties.
This is the largest group of species and varieties, consisting mainly of "wild" or species plants, simple and complex "Paphiopedilum" hybrids, from which plant breeding began. In fact, it is the oldest Paphiopedilum group in the culture. The name of the group clearly indicates the main characteristics of the plant - produces very large, but only one, very rare - two flowers on a flowering stem, which after flowering can be simply cut off. The duration of flowering is quite long. The flowers can last up to 3 months. Among the species of this group the following stand out.
Paphiopedilum insigne is the least desired Paphiopedilum plant. Its beige salad flowers are fragrant and bloom in winter. Paphiopedilum conco-bellatulum is one of the most beautiful mottled orchids. The delicate, snow-white flowers, with almost black dots on all-around petals, seem to be a miracle of artificial creation. Paphiopedilum delenatii and its numerous ornamental forms with delicate pink and white, and very large, rounded lateral petals. There is one exception to the "rule" of this group-Paphiopedilum concolor, capable of producing three delicate pink flowers with rounded petals with fine black markings. The first of the "Paphiopedilum" hybrids is the unpretentious golden-white, wavy, and aqua paphiopedilum harrisianum (Paphiopedilum harrisianum - Paphiopedilum villosum x Paphiopedilum barbata).
But everyone knows the single-flowered Paphiopedilum flowers from the appearance and relative unpretentiousness of the complex American hybrid cultivars. Although they have only one flower, they are up to 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter, have a very delicate mottled pattern, large round-veined lateral petals, and contrasting colors. A typical example is the "Maudiae" variety, whose upper petals are white.
This is a group with inflorescence clusters containing up to 10 flowers. The flowering time of these orchids is the same as that of the single-flowered orchids - up to 3 months. The favorite species of this group of Paphiopedilum are the colorful species of orchids (the names usually refer directly to the original species and shades of color - 'Delenatii White', 'Delenatii Pink', 'Delenatii Gold', but there are some other species as well.

2022.01.22 07:47 FunkyUsernameIsFunky an unreasonable amount of homework (GCSE Art)?
from yr9 - yr11 (students start gcses in yr9 at my school), students taking gcse are are required to do 1 hr a week of homework per week - examples of tasks include ‘double page spread of artist research on ‘x’ artist’, or ‘use the grid method to draw a self portrait from a photo’
I have to mark it every week
I have 2 gcse classes so about 40 kids
the marking doesn’t take ‘that’ long, but it’s an absolute nightmare trying to get all their books in every week, mark them quickly and get them back to them so they can do the next hour’s worth of weekly work - I almost feel bad taking their books in for marking when they already should be working on their next tasks
am I just being unorganised? I cannot seem to stay on top of it - the kids (even the ‘good’ kids) are not keeping up with the amount of work and are complaining about the amount they are set
to be honest I agree with them and think it’s excessive and some tasks really feel like they’re set for the sake of it but the department insists they have always done this and it’s normal
is it? I remember gcse art being a heavy workload yes, especially in yr11, but this feels relentless

2022.01.22 07:47 megumi-rika Thoughts about World Religion Day Celebration as a Muslim
Almost a week ago, I saw a post on some media platform from what I assume could be a Muslim professor wishing a Happy World Religion Day on public. Unfortunately, that post creates controversy among local Muslims and have to be taken down later due to backlash and criticisms, saying it's Shirk to celebrate because it encourages religious pluralism and recognize other different beliefs as valid when there is only one true belief in Islam.
While other Muslims think that the celebration is not about believing what the other's faith believes in, but acknowledging other people religions/beliefs and respecting it, thus promoting understanding and tolerance in different faiths and how every believer can coexist in peace.
A lot of comments I've read on there was more on the former one, condemning those who tries to celebrate it. But most (if not all) of them comes from the same state where I live in, so I got curious and wonder what would other Muslims outside my country think of this. What's your thoughts about this? Is it alright to celebrate it or is it wrong?
