2021.12.02 12:55 ben_james_ Help with UPDATE query
I am trying to add an UPDATE query to an existing web video script (to add the info from 'langs' table to 'videos' table, once a video is uploaded via upload Form). It was suggested that after I add the column named 'subcat_name' (into the 'videos' table), that I add this code to the script:
should it be more like this? :
UPDATE videos v SET v.subcat_name = (SELECT l.english FROM langs WHERE l.lang_key = v.sub_category LIMIT 1)
or $db = ?
sql = UPDATE videos v SET v.subcat_name = (SELECT l.english FROM langs WHERE l.lang_key = v.sub_category LIMIT 1);
2021.12.02 12:55 MadPhatDiary How long is a normal training period? I feel lost
Hi everyone! So I just started a new job this past Monday (been there 4 days), and it’s been a whirlwind. It’s technically the same title I had in my last position, but the workload is over double what I’m used to and requires technical knowledge that I don’t yet have. The person training me has been really nice and helpful, but transparently admitted she’s overwhelmed and has really been struggling herself.
I’m having crazy anxiety because my supervisor has told me that she wants me to fully take over my trainer’s project by tomorrow and there’s just no way I feel capable enough for that. I think if I was given like 3 weeks to a month to shadow and be trained in all of the nuance, I could handle it no problem. But taking over after one week feels insane to me and I’ve been losing sleep thinking about how much is going to slip through the cracks on my watch.
Also important to note is that my trainer leaves for another job next week, so there’s literally a ticking clock either way.
I feel so dumb and like I just can’t hack it, but is this normal? Am I just being a baby and this is how most jobs go? .

2021.12.02 12:55 Hunteresc [Android][2021.45.0.38766] Reddit App leaking.
So as the title states, my reddit app is leaking, over the course of a month it grows to 3 gigabytes in size, as well as slows down my phone over time. This morning I woke up and there was a pop-up on my screen saying reddit was using 60% of my CPU eventhough the app wasn't open, is there any solutions anybody can think of aside from reinstalling the app weekly? Another thing with it bloating the CPU is it winds up slowing down other apps significantly, almost to the point where my phone feels unusable.
Also, my phone is a Samsung A20

Tasting notes I enjoy are Smokey, earthy, fruity. If it’s helpful I enjoy whiskey, grappa, and cognac but dislike vodka. Looking for something not too sweet.

2021.12.02 12:55 YoungAtty93 Salary/ Bonus Question
Throwaway account- As a starting point, on the whole I really like my firm and it has a lot of benefits/ perks, which I will detail below. My question is simply what I should expect in terms of salary and benefits at the end of my third full year of practice.
I work at a 10 attorney civil litigation firm that does a lot of PI type work in addition to other contingency work. (We are not an advertising firm, most of our work comes on fee split and referrals for other attorneys). I am currently salaried at $90,000.00 and would expect (not what I want) a bonus of about 10k at the end of the year. I am in a midsized city in the Midwest > 150k people.
My firm is really good about sharing information related to financials, management, etc. From that information, I can tell that my overhead, including my salary and benefits, FICA, 100% of my dedicated paralegal's salary, benefits, FICA, and 1/10 of everything else (the runners, accounting, paper, rent, receptionist, marketing, etc.) is about $350,000.00. This year I have generated income (received, in the bank, no discounts, $650,000, and I am in the third highest producer in the office.
I do not really rain make- of my production this year, only about $75,000.00 of that is work I brought into the firm on my own.
We have seven partners (basic partnership split of profits based on percentage of shares owned for them) and three associates. The partners are salaried at $190,000.00. (The firm truly shares all financials with all attorneys, including associates). Every week I get a break down of what every attorney has produced YTD.
Last year I produced about $515,000.00. The year before that I produced about $300,000, but I did not yet have a dedicated paralegal and my salary was only at 70,000, so the firm likely broke even on me that year.
To ensure anyone commenting has full information, I do have a lot of perks, although my 1/10 of those perks is included in my overhead, but it is likely not something I could find else where. 100% of my healthcare is paid. the firm pays for 100k in life insurance and longterm disability. I pay no bar or association fees out of pocket. I pay for no CLEs. The firm pays for me (and my wife when she can go) to attend any conference that I would like to attend (some of which are pretty fun) including hotel, travel, food, and drinks while I am there. The firm typically takes all attorneys, and occasionally spouses, on three or four day Caribbean trips (a la The Firm) every year or two when the firm on the whole does well. Out of, I suppose, fear of someone getting a DUI, I can charge any Uber to my firm card, regardless of where I am, who I am with, why I need an Uber, or how much it will cost. The firm pays for my iPhone and the plan, and will buy me any other tech that I want/ need- iPad and Lap Top. We typically go to lunch together most days and those lunches always go on my firm card. Overall good culture and for the most part I am not worked death- 45-50/hrs week.
To the extent it matters, the firm will turn a profit this year- roughly 2- 2.5 Mil, but some partners, and one associate, are no where close to covering their overhead this year. (One partner (named partner) is really not practicing anymore, mostly just managing, generating work, etc. and I estimate her overhead is probably in the range of $500,000, but she doesn't directly generate income anymore. She also still owns 1/3 of the firm...).
As a note, while my production has been steadily increasing, I do not want an eat what you kill model. If, like one of my peers this year, my production happens to be low, I like having a steady base salary. So, knowing that I like safety net for down years, what would be a reasonable expectation in terms of salary moving forward, and bonus for this year.
