2021.11.27 08:58 IDK84382 Could I stop growing then start up again?
I’m currently 18 years old and I was quite the late bloomer. My voice didn’t drop till a couple years ago, I only hit my growth spurt last year, I still haven’t developed much facial hair and no armpit hair. I grew pretty fast up to 5’10 and just stopped straight away. This was at the exact same time I started taking accutane and doxycycline for my severe acne. Since then I haven’t grown at all, it has been about 8 months. Am I done growing or did any of you continue growing after stopping? I’m also wondering if there could be some correlation to accutane?

2021.11.27 08:58 ThrowawayTraveler2 Friend is traveling to country with another person after I’ve mentioned I’ve already already booked my ticket there on a separate week
Hi. I know the title of the post doesn’t sound terrific but there’s a bit more turmoil I feel considering the situation. Not to get too specific since they frequently browse, I’m traveling to from North America to Europe and I’m in my mid 20s. Yes, I know this scenario is very first world problem!
It’s been something I’ve been planning for quite some time now, since the fall of 2019 before the full hit of the virus occurred. It’ll costs me a significant amount of money as someone who works in the mental healthcare field but has been something important to me as I want to move to said destination.
I’ve been learning the language as well as mentioning my studies and excitement for the past year about it. It means a lot for me since it’ll most likely be my last cross-continental trip until I settle into a decisive career. Of those people I’ve told, is one of my best friend who I’ve known since middle school.
We’ve had our ups and downs and I do admit I am territorial with small interests or activities (not to the extent of gatekeeping but maybe more, have to get use to other peoples style of interaction with said territory? I come across as more stressed than aggressive) and can take rejection and criticism a bit more negatively than most. Luckily it’s never led to us breaking off, and they feel like a sibling at this point. Unfortunately a lot of the sibling feels many get are there as well.
With my trip, I did initially invite them and they couldn’t go. I didn’t take it personally since it is an expensive trip. However a small bit ago, I was speaking to them and they mentioned they were now going with a friend that’s theirs for when they were in grade school I believe. I wasn’t too upset until I saw they visiting the literal week before I arrive in said place. I couldn’t help but feel a bit crushed.
A bit of my issue is we both share a largely common friend group and it almost feels like the spotlight will now be on them in social circles since they’ll be going first. I don’t believe to my memory that I told my dates but said ambiguously I’m leaving in the first half of the month and staying there for the week. I’d be arriving the the day the two others are leaving. On top of that as well, it stinks because it almost seems spontaneous since I’ve heard no prior mention of this idea before. We’re very close and share every bit of our lives even when it comes to friends neither of us mutually have.
An important note is them saying to me they couldn’t buy an important item for their house I was suppose to help with because they were worried about financial costs. I will admit they do work the electronics industry and make a decent paycheck that could lead allowance to purchase said trip in the short period of time between telling me they can’t buy the item and then buying the trip. Again, no malice when saying that, just struck me as weird but not unusual.
This is where I’m stuck because I don’t know if there’s a way to properly convey how I feel without coming across as my sometimes territorial self. Again, I’ve never said nothing aggressive, just very stressed and timid about confronting it and led to backing out a couple of times to talk about this.
I want to completely clarify I’m not trying to stop them doing this or making them change dates or anything, I’m just trying to figure out a way to convey how I feel to them that doesn’t sound dick-ish. I know this can all be coincidental but knowing how considerate they are and memorizing important events, I don’t know if it hurt more they remembered and disregarded or they forgot entirely? I still appreciate them dearly as a friend and want us not have a conflict over this. Just trying to find a civil way to speak openly about the emotions either of us may have attached to it

2021.11.27 08:58 PersonSuitTV FYI: Laptop Extended Warranties & You
Many of you may know me on these this sub as the guy constantly posting laptop reviews. I probably do enough to run a youtube channel lol but really just enjoy doing it in my spare time. Having tested laptops from many different brands over the years I have had the opportunity to test the Warranty service on a few of them. Below I will share my service experiences with ASUS, Dell/Alienware, Lenovo, Razer & Apple. Take it with a grain of salt as these are just one persons experiences and your milage may vary.
---ASUS--- My ASUS experience has been mixed. When I recently purchased a 2021 S17 I wanted to look into getting the extended warranty for it. To my surprise, ASUS does not offer an extended warranty for their gaming laptops. I found this to also be the case with a G15 AE I purchased shortly after the S17. ASUS instead advised any extended Warranty would have to be obtained through the company I bought it from. While this was not actually utilizing their repair service it did ensure the return of both the S17 which came with screen damage and made me feel uneasy about dealing with the retailer for repair, and the G15 AE which has a history of possible liquid metal leakage.
On a non-laptop note I have had a GPU serviced through ASUS that went well except for the fact they don't provide any return shipping material and when I used the original box to ship it in they did not return it. I have seen quite a few horror stories on reddit about laptops being returned banged up, not fixed or being stuck at their facilities for over a month. I think ASUS can make a great laptop but their service options leave much to be desired.
---Lenovo--- Lenovo offers some amazingly priced warranty options that can include accidental damage, battery replacement, next day on site service and up to 4 years of coverage for what most other retailers charge for 2 years. The price seemed too good to be true so I opted for the 4 years of support at checkout. Sadly, when I received the laptop, a Legion 7i, it had a defective speaker and thus my long and irritating experience with Lenovo began.
I called them and told them of my issue and asked if I could just replace the unit. They told me due to the shortages it is out of stock and can't be replaced. The unit I bought was a pre-build option that was now out of stock but you can still on their website build to order one. I told them I know it was out of stock but can't you just send me one since the build to order option is available? I was told no because the build to order has a different model number and can't be substituted even if it was the same exact same specs...
Frustrated and confused with this strange limitation, I opted for getting the Laptop serviced. They said someone would be in contact with me from a repair center the next day. I was not contacted by a repair center at all, instead 5 days later I received an email from Lenovo saying the part needed for repair was out of stock with no ETA of when it may come back in stock. It also said the best option would be to return it for a refund with no option of getting it repaired or replaced with a working unit and had return information attached...
This is Lenovos fundamental flaw of their warranty service. Getting a unit replaced requires the same exact model number to be in stock which if it's a pre-build may never actually happen as they change their pre-build model numbers often. The illusion of next day repair service requires parts to be available which they don't even know when they might become available. The whole process seemed sloppy and underwhelming and makes what seemed like a great warranty become a nightmare of problems. Additionally this was all done through a Small Business account with them so this is above what a normal consumer should expect. I can't imagine what would have happened if this was outside the return window.
---Dell/Alienware--- Alienware offers very similar warranty options to Lenovo though a bit more expensive. Claiming accidental damage & next day service. When I received a 2018 17R4 it seemed like a very solid machine, until it started having major thermal throttling issues that made games unplayable. I contacted their support and they got a tech out the next day to replace the entire cooling assembly. Sadly the problem was an issue with this model and could not be fixed resulting in a return. However, as far as the warranty service was concerned it actually lived up to its promises of quick repair. Their customer service was great to work with and even though I had to return it, the whole processes was pretty smooth all things considered. Alienware laptops may have their own set of issues but at least the service seems pretty solid.
---Razer--- I have not purchased a Razer laptop yet, mainly for the experience I have had trying to get their raptor monitor serviced. The monitor came with a defective USB-C port. Razer offers zero phone support unless you're calling about one of their laptops so maybe the rest of this story would be quite different if it was for a laptop. It took 4 days to get a response and that was asking me what the problem was even though my email said what it was. The next email advised me to do steps I had said I already told them I did, and then the next email gave me solutions for a problem I was not even having. Their chat support was just as bad as it honestly seemed like Razer provided no training on these monitors, so the agents really didn't know how to approach this at all. After trying to get help for 13 days I decided to return it before that 14th day hit (end of return period).
After I shipped it back and the tracking said they received it, it took 5 weeks to get them to acknowledge they received the unit and start the refund processes which took another 2 weeks. Maybe their laptop support is much better and since you get to use an actual phone number for that support maybe the agents are trained or things move smoother. But after that monitor experience it has made me vary cautious of buying anything besides mice from Razer.
---Apple--- Ok, so Apple does not make gaming laptops and yes no one should expect any real gaming on them, but since they do make laptops that can play some games I thought I would include them. Their repair processes was not as smooth as Alienware as they offer no onsite service but bringing my 2011 MBP into an Apple store for a dead GPU was a fairly quick repair. They took it, ordered the part, told me it would take a week, it took a week and then I got it back. Not the fastest repair but it was no nonsense and was pretty straightforward for what it was. Not the best but far from the worst.
---Final Thoughts--- There any many other laptop manufacturers out there with their own warranty coverage options that may fair better or worse than these stories. I feel like Dell & Apple may have the only reliable repair solutions while others fall short or have horror stories about damaged items or super long return times. It almost seems like you may be better off just taking your laptop to a shop rather than spending the extra money for an extended warranty unless I guess it's dell/apple and make sure within that return window that the laptop has zero day one issues so you don't end up using their repair services.

2021.11.27 08:58 haemogoblin13 banishing bin stink?
hi, my bin smells like it’s full of rotten garbage all the time. the smell is there minutes after washing the bin itself, emptying the bin and changing the liner doesn’t do anything to help either. meat or dairy goes straight into the wheelie bin outside and veggie or fruit scraps go into the compost so it’s not from rotten food. we empty the bin most days whether it’s full or not. the only thing i can think of that has changed over the last few years is that we switched to biodegradable liners but i thought they reduced smell? we’ve tried all sorts of bin deodorisers and i just don’t know what to do now, summer is coming and i fear the heat will make things worse. Please help!
