2021.12.03 19:29 Delicious_Notice_916 Response to Haqiqatjou's "Genius of Islam"
Daniel Haqiqatjou was complaining that no Atheist responded to his "Genius of Islam" series. So I decided to post a response. I assume stuff like this is allowed here?
Firstly: I don't represent all Atheists. I'm just an Atheist responding for myself. Atheism is not a belief system and Atheists have different opinions on stuff. So no one here has to agree with me and you can add your points contradictory to mine.
I'll be responding to episode 1. I was expecting he would argue about the "genius of Islam", but Islam wasn't mentioned at all. I'm very ready to respond to Islamic arguments, but the video was just a description of today's world with an "it's bad" attitude. But if he wants some response I will give it.
So firstly he mentions 3 possible dystopian futures for humanity:
1) global totalitarian regime 2) global totalitarian regime based on brainwashing 3) robots replace humans
I think that 1 and 2 is what Islam is trying to achieve. And in a sense 3 too, because Islam wants people to be like robots - to not act according to their own will but to obey.
Then he's complaining about the existence of schools and jobs. He says it's a "saad existence" if you go to work and then watch Netflix. I think that when Muhammad worked for Khadija and then listened to stories told to him by Jews - that's equivalent of going to work and watching Netflix today. So he should be consistent and condemn Muhammad's life-style as well. Islam has no plan to get rid of work. Okay the first Muslims didn't have jobs, because they were conquering other countries, killing people and stealing their property, but that's not a better future that I want.
Then he's complaining about materialism. I think that just because everything is made of matter doesn't mean you have to accumulate outside property. The brain is also made of matter and I can focus on developing my thinking instead of focusing on acquiring property. And that might be similar to what is called "spirituality" among delusional people.
Then he criticizes communism because communism thinks happiness comes from buying goods and not from things like "loving and committed relationship with the opposite sex" or "sharing and an identity with other human beings centered around pursuit of a higher purpose". I think that communists do have relationships and they have a common goal to bring their utopia. And it's very convenient he talks about relationship with "opposite sex" as if homosexuals wouldn't be happy with same sex relationship. If he cares about happiness why not allow same-sex relationships for homosexuals?
"Why bother with the duties of marriage when you can use a convenient sex app or online pornography" - both of these are better than Islamic sex slavery. Muhammad captured women in wars and then sold them on the market. Sex apps and porn are consensual. Muhammad didn't know what consent is. Allah found a place in his book to prohibit eating pork, but he unfortunately didn't have enough space to explicitly prohibit slavery and rape. Actually it says that "those whom your right hand possesses are allowed for you". And there's a hadith which shows that it was not a matter of local culture. The Muslims were reluctant to rape married women, but Muhammad urged them to do so. ISIS was 100% Islam.
"The only way modern people survive is by constant use of drugs, alcohol, pain killers and anti-depressants to numb the senses." - I guess I'm not a modern people. How do those people even go to work when they're constantly drugged and drunk? And Muslims who suffer from serious depressions take pills too. I just found you an interesting fatwa about anti-depressants: "The majority of the scholars agree that if a person is suffering from a severe illness and he has the financial ability to pay for the treatment, then to treat himself through medicines or other sources becomes wajib upon him." Wajib means obligatory in sharia. So in Islam you HAVE TO take anti-depressants if you have serious depression.
I don't know why the Christian-sounding music keeps playing in the background. Music is haram.
Then he complains about people with higher social status feeling better than people with lower status. I'm sure Muhammad felt better than his sheep and Muslim leaders feel better than their sheep. So no difference. And Islam divides people into classes of Muslims (the superior) and infidels (the inferior). Look at the "Pact of Umar" and you'll see the equality that Islam brings.
Then he complains that industrial revolution happened in the West and now they have more technology and that's not fair towards other countries which didn't develop technology. I think the West deserves it. They developed it and they're using it. The other people who didn't invest into science and were praying to a non-existing entity to help them - they also got what they deserve - nothing. It's fair. If you do real work, you will have real results. If you're delusional and you expect your delusions to become reality, nothing won't happen. And that is why Islamic countries need to get rid of Islam and they need to imitate the West if they want to be successful and not delusional. And the West is not West-centric. Islam is Arab-centric. If you join Islam you have to learn Arabic and bow towards Arabia. Islam is a tool of Arab imperialism. But if you learn science/philosophy/politics from the West, you can just translate it to your language and use it in your country for your country's benefits without worshiping the West. And you actually live in the West and refuse to move to an Islamic country, which is funny. Afghanistan is waiting for you!
Then he's scared one day we might upload our consciousness to a cloud and lose our bodies. I think that if the environment won't allow us to live in our bodies, then saving our consciousness in another form would still be fulfilling. Much more than just believing in Allah's help and getting extinct without preserving our consciousness.

2021.12.03 19:29 sadpenguin5783 I can't stop myself from thigh posting.
About a year ago I saw my first nerd thigh post and I've been thighposting since. The nerd thigh strangulation phenomenon is real and fascinating and it's become my obsession. It's cost me a lot and reddit as a whole definitely hates me. But that's okay because I don't hate reddit.
Ever since I heard the story about that kid being strangled by his nerdy classmate's fat thighs I just couldn't stop fucking thinking about it. Imagine the smell, the texture and even the taste as your entire face is engulfed by pasty, cottage cheese textured, warm and moist thigh meat.
Holy shit what a way to die. I just can't stop thinking about it and I can't stop thighposting. I tried but it's like a drug. It's like I took some nerd thigh sweat, dehydrated it and snorted the dust and I surely would given the opportunity. I currently watercool my pc on nerd thigh sweat as well and it's really efficient.
Where there could only be one there is now many
I have worn many faces but not all of them friendly
With every end comes a new beginning
No matter the losses I can't stop winning
What am I?
Better yet what are we? What makes us human? Is it just our experiences and emotions trapped inside a construct of meat and bone or are we something more?
Why are we even here? I want to thighpost forever but that's a long time so I can't make that promise but I can promise that I am here now.
I'll never forget how the tale of a young man's death due to nerd thigh strangulation changed my life or the kindness shown to me by my fellow man.

2021.12.03 19:29 whynotme-whynotnow Copper IUD and periods
I just got a copper IUD about a month ago. I was on the pill and using a cup for many years prior. The thing that I’m struggling with now is my doctor said no cups because of the suction pulling out the IUD. I’ve tried period underwear but they work better as a back up. I don’t like using pads and tampons they feel so wasteful. I hear that discs maybe an alternative to a cup for this with IUDs. Anyone have any suggestions or inputs?

2021.12.03 19:29 fender4645 What's a normal amount of pings that can be dropped but still be acceptable?
I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with my home network. The symptoms are over the last few weeks, when I'm in a video (or audio only) call for work, my video freezes and no one can hear me. This can last anywhere from 2-10 seconds. I can continue to hear and see the other people just fine. My network is pretty complex (for a home network) so I decided to start with the proverbial source: my router. It's a Ubiquiti UDM so I have console access it.
What I did was start a perpetual ping (every 1 second) from my router to google.com. I redirected the output to a file (including time stamp) and let it run for about 4 hours. Unfortunately I don't have any meetings today (and it's not always 100% reproducible anyway) but I just took a look at the log. I wrote a quick script that would read the file and flag anywhere where the sequence was out of order -- in other words, when a packet was lost. Over the 4 hours, there were about 10 times when at least one packet didn't return. Most of the time is was only one or two packets (e.g. the sequence went from 3922, 2923, then 3925. There was one time when it went from 4032 to 4040 -- so 8 seconds of lost packets. I think this is where I probably would have dropped audio/video had I been in a call.
My question is: other than the 8 second loss (which I don't think is normal), is dropping one or two packets 10 times over a 4 hour period normal? I know this doesn't necessarily help me with my problem but I'm more curious than anything.

2021.12.03 19:29 Natural-Nothing Pixel 6 display color shifting issue
A couple of days ago my Pixel 6 was finally delivered. It feels largely premium in hand and performs very well, though I'm returning it and getting a replacement Pixel 6 because the buttons are loose and they easily rattle.
One thing I've seen mentioned is that the Pixel 6 has off-axis color shifting with the display. I didn't think this would bother me much and my Pixel 2 (regular size) has it when viewing it at an angle. Unfortunately, it's pretty bothersome on the Pixel 6. I think it's pretty noticeable because the screen is so tall that any slight shift in angle causes some portion of the screen to shift slightly pink or green.
I'm trying to convince myself that it doesn't matter, but it feels like I'm never able to see a pure white screen. When viewing apps like Reddit with a white background, it almost looks like there's some sort of oily filter that causes a slight rainbow look on the screen.
Are you guys able to just ignore this? Does it become less noticeable over time?
