So in the BP trailer of season 1 they said that you can earn xp outside of BR. Is save the world included in this? If yes, then that would be great news

Beat the game and started wondering, can you beat the game without killing any mimics, killing only humans, and using only mimic mods? Off to a rough start but having some fun trying to move around and not die. Tips would be appreciated.

2021.12.05 11:44 RedEagle_MGN Is the blockchain Metaverse too salesy for mass adoption?

The other day I fired up The Sandbox with excitement about its potential. As someone leading the game development team, I always like to spy on similar projects.
Right away when playing I was accosted by an NPC asking me to buy an alpha pass to Sandbox for $1000 plus.
I decided to ignore him and carry on, and I realized the entire spawn was a market for NFTs.
I started a gaming clan 8 years ago with the objective of studying the Metaverse. I've had the privilege of really being embedded in the gaming community, and I've discovered a few things.

  1. Gamers hate to pay for a game more than once
    1. -- If you're going to charge for the game itself, you better make the rest of it free
    2. -- If the game is free then you can add microtransactions provided you're not too pushy about it
  2. Gamers hate to be sold
    1. -- Gamers play games to escape from real life, being accosted for money on a regular basis totally takes them out of the relaxing experience they came for.
I genuinely believe that the Metaverse will arise out of a gaming world because games have an incredible power to break the ice between people. Unfortunately, many of the attempts at the Metaverse I see today lack a reason to stay or will drive gamers away by being too salesy.

So my question to you is, is blockchain really the “game changer” for the Metaverse, or is something else necessary?

If you enjoy talking about these topics, I am running a Metaverse discussion event in Discord in 3 hours: https://discord.gg/2sVsZ6NC6B

2021.12.05 11:44 mage24365 Fight cave spawn prediction is 5 years old today. Here's some trivia.

Five years ago today, this video was published, and the idea of fight cave spawn placements was released to the public. I figured it's time to reveal some dumb behind the scenes stuff.
First: How did I discover this? At the time, two things were known:

  1. The spawn point of the first 45 is the same as the spawn point of jad.
  2. If you order the spawns in one wave by descending combat level, the next wave will have the same spawns, shifted over by one. (I believe this one was attributed to Meric, though I'm not certain of this.)
The second point gives some structure to the pattern; in fact, that point alone allows you to define the spawns of the entire cave with only the 63 spawns of the highest level monsters in each wave.
However, given the first point, there's almost certainly some larger structure.
Since the spawn of wave 3 is the same as wave 63, there's likely some cycle that repeats after 60 waves (or some divisor thereof). This cycle is likely also a multiple of 5, since there are 5 spawn positions.
Knowing this, I did a few test runs, noting down the highest level spawn at each wave. Obviously in hindsight, I found that this looped after 15 waves, and all the lower enemies lined up too.
Subsequent tests showed that this cycle was always used, but shifted.
Second bit of trivia: I did not have enough evidence to know this was definitive.
Take a guess how many runs I did to test my theory.
It was four. There could have easily been a second cycle it randomly chooses, or some rotations were impossible, or something else. I made a claim preemptively, but it turned out to be correct.
Third: If you've seen the video, you might remember the circle that appeared at 4:45.
This circle was a poorly-made mockup that I threw together in google slides in 20 minutes to explain to Shiki how the process worked. It wasn't intended to be final.
(Honestly, this is my biggest regret of the whole thing. It's so uneven!)
Finally: This whole thing arguably shouldn't even be in the game; fight cave spawns were originally completely random.
It's hard to definitively show this, but here is a video from 2006 where both 22s spawn SW.
Happy scaping!

2021.12.05 11:44 EatCookysPlayComputa Resource limits, SSD, SSI, SSR

My mentally ill father has been on social security income for most of my life. My uncle managed all of this and has recently passed and now this falls to me. I now have all the paperwork that my uncle had, a joint account with my father that the SSA deposits into, etc. I am not supporting him financially.
Now given that he has been disabled so long, I believe he has to be on SSD but I am not sure. None of the paperwork indicates the benefit he is on. I just have numbers and reapplication copies.
In the transition period between my uncle dying and me managing his finances, my dad's convinced there are 3 uncashed rent checks floating out there. Those three rent checks total more than 2000 dollars which if there was a resource limit he would have exceeded.
He tells me he just got a letter that transitions him from SSD to SS Retirement. Am I worried about this asset limit for no reason? My entire life I was told he needed to live under some level of assets. I don't know if that is SSD/I related or food stamps or what. Or if my uncle just kept his income/money constrained to keep him from spending it foolishly. He had some episodes with drugs etc so I could see that being the case.

2021.12.05 11:44 K1ng_M1Das What Games Would Look Like Without a 4th Player

Battle Box would be such a terrible game to not have a fourth player. Imagine having to play Battle Box without four players, you'd probably go 0-9.
SoT, you can still somewhat get a decent number of coins if you use the Dream strategy where you prioritize finding vaults and keys.
Grid Runners with 3 player are gonna make some rooms easier but most rooms harder, some rooms are even impossible to finish. Like the golf club hitting room, pass the blocks and copy the painting room and maybe the shoot the targets room.
Sky Battle, you can still somewhat get coins but you will be definitely get targeted because you don't have a fourth player.
Survival Games, it's similar to Sky Battle where you'll get targeted but I can imagine it's harder to get coins in Survival Games because teams are more likely to go after you because there is no void unlike Sky Battle to worry about.
Buildmart would be a rough game. Having 1 less player to collect blocks, place blocks, craft. This game would be terrible since your probably gonna get pretty low placements on most builds since your down a player.
HITW, you lost a player in HITW. That's basically it. I can't describe HITW other than that.
Parkour Tag is gonna be a rough game. Imagine only having 2 runners to work it. You'll probably go 0-9 but you can get lucky.
TGTTOSAWAF, of course it's gonna be easier to get team bonuses but I don't think that will compensate enough for the lack of a 4th player.
Ace Race, same like HITW you lose a player and that's literally it.

2021.12.05 11:44 X_W_OO inal Fantasy VII power rant.

Final Fantasy VII is needless to say a setting which many battle boarders have differing views of the power level of. With there being no overall opinion on how powerful the setting is. As well as a lot of controversy.
There is the notion that the setting's more powerful characters are building - city block level in power with subsonic - supersonic speeds. Or that all of the main cast are literally just 1 power level down from being universe level, while having massivley faster than light speed. In all of their peak or near peak apperances, based on the compilation of Final Fantasy VII alone. With there being various views of the power level inbetween the "low" and "high" ones such as these. Granted Final Fantasy VII being "building" level is a much common than it being at a higher level. Of course there would be bias against and in favor of the settings characters especailly since the original Final Fantasy VII was a very popular and also very disliked game previously, with many people depending what they like and trying to downplay what they do not.
How powerful view the feats and power level of the setting is also not helped by many things. Such as the higher end feats of which mostly a certain one is used seeming absurdly far removed from what is shown in Advent Children for example, which also shows many easy to see feats. All of the higher feats seemingly coming from gameplay also creates problems, albeit not as many as it used to since its generally recognized now what the difference between feats and a gameplay mechanics are.
However I would also say that some other things such as how many feats being shown in a less obvious way, though all almost all of the high end feats are not ambigious despite that. as well as the majority of battle boarders only being familar with some of the compilation's apperances. Not to mention the setting's feats being poorly researched anyway and quite a few popular misconceptions existing about some of them to. Are also factors which create controversy.
To put it simply it would not be unreasonable for someone to doubt that Final Fantasy VII is more powerful than shown in Advent Children and instead think that the setting is only as powerful and fast as a few of the feats there shown, apart from in some other circumstance. With the main game being seen having virtually no feats and Final Fantasy VII's characters having the aforementioned power level seeming more consistent to many battle boarders. Obviously there are and have been battle boarders who will basically try their hardest to downplay the setting to as low of a level that they can get away with. Just others seeing Final Fantasy VII as being at the aforementioned level of power is still not massivley egerigious in the context here.
Say a battle boarder thinks that Final Fantasy VII is at the level of power shown by a few Advent Children's feats since. Since those may be the only consistent feats that they know about. Then that be understandable.
I had years ago believed in higher end interpreations of Final Fantasy VII's general power level. Before I also knew as much about the Compilation feats as I do now. I wanted to see if Final Fantasy VII was as powerful as certain feats show since I started to doubt a power level that high, not just because I only really used a few feats to reinforce my view. However in the end I could say that a higher end interpretation would be valid to some extent.
I am not obviously some sort of source of super knowledge on Final Fantasy VII's feats nor do I claim to be. Since I am just a battle board user like many who will read this rant here. So noticing other's lack of familiarity with the setting is relative. This is unimportant however.
Final Fantasy VII has quite a few high end feats. Which show off the power and strength of its characters.
Note: This rant will be using guide book statements for feats as long as they do not contradict anything since they still are canon and worth mentioning anyway even if they are not the highest form of evidence. Most of the feats are in directly shown in the primary canon however, or at least stated.
Feats for power.
Jenova destroying a planet.
The Omega Weapon being able to gather all of the planet's lifestream and then carry it off into space at high speeds. As shown by a simulation in the Synaptic Net Drive created after information on Omega was collected from Cetra Tablets and the WRO's own findings. Nothing really contradicts what the simulation shows either. It was also accurate enough to display the Omega Weapon before it was even visually seen by anyone so it should be reliable. The lifestream has been shown to be tangible and have especially since solid objects can be made from its Mako.
Chaos's power being stated to be able to destroy the world.
Final Fantasy VII 2007 Ultimania said of Chaos - "Chaos still posses a power so potent it could destroy the world and trying to supress its power takes a great toll on Vincent."
The North Crater being created by Jenova crashing the meteorite she travelled through space on into the planet. Causing it an "injury" as such.
Bahamut Fury's "Exalflare" blasting apart part of the moon in its dimension with a breath attack, to hit the planet its opponent is standing on. Zack also survived this attack hitting him.
The Junon Cannon stated to be able to destroy Midgar when Avalanche attempted to take control of it to do that. Reno's statement was supported by out of universe narration.
Reno said of the Junon Cannon - "If that thing goes off Midgar is done for."
Before Crisis's Chapter summaries said - "In the third episode the Turks race against time to stop Avalanche using the Junon Mako Cannon to destroy Midgar."
Bahamut Zero appears to have an attack comparable to its attack summon sequence in Final Fantasy VII. However there is no footage of it due to lack of information for Before Crisis. As with many summons.
The Summon Zirconaide's power being said to be able to destroy the world. This further being supported by its summoning awakening a Weapon which viewed it as a planetary threat.
A conversation between Sears, The Player Turk and Verdot said - "(Sears) But at the same time... (The Player Turk) The Summon will apear. That one. The one that will reduce the entire world to ashes. (Verdot) Yes."
The Narration of Before Crisis said - "About the face the summon that would scorch the planet."
How the Weapon was awakened as said by the narration - "Should they sense that the planet is in danger they will awaken and relentlessy seek to destroy anything that poses a threat to it."
The Weapons awakening destroying the rock of the North Crater were they Weapons were.
A Weapon landing in the sea creating a crater there larger than a Weapon even if only shown on the in game map.
The Ultimate Weapon's landing making a crater which destroyed large part of the Midgar continent as also shown by an image of the map after the Weapons awakened compared to the map1,2 from the Highwind. Presumably the Ultimate Weapon made the crater since it was sitting around the area. The Crater was also not there before the Weapons awakened obviously.
A shell fired from the Junon Cannon exploding making a large explosion which made big waves in the sea. The explosion was large enough that the the shell fired was unable to be seen for a second or before the explosion happened. With the wave reaching the edge of the view. The Junon Cannon's shells are dozens of meters in diameter as shown by the size of The Cannon. Which also was bigger than many of Midgar's buildings, Midgar being a city multiple kilometers in diamater, as evidenced by a street sign stating a disantce of 1.5 kilometers to the Shinra building which did not even begin at the city's centre.
A Midgar street sign in one part of the city said - "Shin-Ra Company 1.5km."
The Summon Typhon flipping the planet in its dimension with its "Disintegration" move.
Dissidia Museum said of Typhon 1,2 in Final Fantasy VII - "Appearing as a summon in FFVII he turns the world upside down with his disintegration attack."
Tifa's limit break "Final Heavan" being stated to be as power as nuclear explosion, this would not scale to her regular attacks though. This is a guidebook statement but this rant is mentioning it for the aforementioned reasons.
Final Fantasy VII's offical English guide said - "Focusing her energies into her fist Tifa hits her enemies with the force of a nuclear explosion."
The Shinra No. 26 rocket exploding destroying 1,2 a significant part of the Meteor which was over a thousand kilometers in diamater. While it is canonically unknown what exactly happened here regarding the Huge Materia. Regardless of wether the Party saved it the explosion still happens regardless of it being on board meaning that this destruction was the explosive power of rocket fuel exploding rather than the Huge Materia's power.
Bahamut Zero's "Tera Flare" dispersing some clouds over an area visible from thousnads of kilometers in space and causing an explosion when hitting its target.
The Diamond Weapon causing an earthquake which could be felt all across the world as it could be noticed regardless of where the party were on the map. This feat is also confirmed out of universe.
Final Fantasy VII's offical English guide said - "When the team reaches the Highwind the entire area starts to quake. Another Weapon is on the move and it's headed straight for Midgar."
If the party attempted to hit the Diamond Weapon with the Highwind it would launch them across the map. Cid also acknowledge this.
Cid said - "Hey, HEY what're you trying to do? Break the Highwind? Lets fight on the ground."
The Ultimate Weapon was able to launch the Highwind across the map if by waving its arms if it was hit by it.
Cid said - "&$&, what energy! Damn you think I'm just gonna give up!?"*
The Ultimate Weapon exploding after it was defeated by Cloud's party making a large crater.
The Omega Weapon creating a dimension as part of its not yet fully materialized body as evident when Omega Weiss was defeated and absorbed by Omega to reach full power. Which would not be possible if the dimension was not part of Omega itself.
Chaos Vincent defeating the Omega Weapon caused an explosion thousands of kilometers in diamater which also destroyed most of Omega's physical body which was comparable to Midgar in size.
Feats for physical strength.
The Omega Weapon being able to move the lifestream. Its intended purpose.
Tifa's limit break "Meteordive" has her being able to pick up a slam any opponent Cloud's party face.
Another one of Tifa's limit breaks "Meteorstrike" does the same thing as Meteordive but instead moves Tifa's opponent fast enough for them to ablate. This would not scale to her normal strength or power however.
Titan using its "Anger of the Land" move being able to pull up a large bit of rock from the ground and then flip it destroying the rock, with any enemy Cloud's party could find in the game being able to be moved on it.
Neo Bahamut's "Giga Flare" attack showed it raising a large chunk of rock above the clouds with telekinesis before turning it to debris with a breath attack, with any enemy faced by Cloud's party being able to be moved with the rock.
The Diamond Weapon physically pulling itself out the North Crater. This feat could just be the Weapons existing in general anyway since they should weigh at thousands of tons and are able to move themselves around.
Before being fought by Cloud's party the Ruby Weapon jumps out of the sand it was mostly hidden under before, while not being bothered by being hit by the Highwind head on.
Although not a feat for a character the Holy once released was able to easily send the highwind flying into the air at hypersonic speeds. The Highwind had an unloaded weight of 1,380 tons.
Final Fantasy VII 2005 Ultimania said - "1,380 tons."
Misconceptions regarding feats and events.
There are a several commonly cited instances which have been used to prove various things about different events and feats and their implications.

Sephiroth needed the meteor to destroy the planet to absorb its energy therefore he cannot destroy a planet by himself.
Aerith and Sephiroth said of his scheme - "(Aerith) An injury powerful enough to destroy the planet? Injure... the planet?(Sephiroth) Behold the mural... Ultimate destructive magic meteor."
This is the most prominent misconception about Final Fantasy VII and is involves taking much of the plot of the original game completley out of context.
What battle boarders interpret much of the game as being about is Sephiroth looking around the planet for the black materia which summons a meteor capable of destroying. Thus implying that he can not do so himself. Which would be a valid implication of a character who Sephiroth in this case according to some people, not being able to destroy a planet.
However...
Whatever character went through all the trouble finding the for the black materia. Was not actually Sephiroth himself. Since Sephiroth doing anything like that would have been impossible even for some time after Meteor was summoned. Why? Since Sephiroth was asleep.
Barret said regarding how much time had passed after the reamining 6 Weapons had awakened since Meteor was summoned - "Lesse now...... Must've been about 7 days."
Tifa asks what hapened to Sephiroth in the Weapon awakening, with Barret telling her about Sephiroth and the shield barrier around the North Crater - (Tifa) "What about Sephiroth?" (Barret) "You ain't over it yet. Remember that huge light in the Northen Cave? Since then the Craters been surrounded by a huge barrier of light. Everyone one knows Sephiroth sleeps in that big hole protected by the barrier. We can't do a damn thing about it we just gotta wait till he wakes up."
The Maiden Who Travels the planet said - "Having fully unveiled Jenova’s powers, Sephiroth was firmly protecting the Crater that was going to become his cocoon, especially from any forms of approach by the Lifestream. By doing so, he could avoid the will of the Planet that had grown wary of Jenova for all these years and, hide from the eyes of the Weapons that were born to expel any foreign bodies from the Planet."
Saying that Sephiroth could not destroy a planet at that time would be correct. Its just obviously not an anti feat for him since was asleep and rebuilding his body, this needs no explanation.
Meteor was about to hit the planet when Sephiroth was awake to and it had already been summoned so he could just wait for it destroy the planet rather than having to bother to do anything himself. Sephiroth was also constantly having to block the movement of the Holy by that time as well and exerting himself doing so, with the magic almost being able to free itself. As shown when Cloud and his party managed to temporarily break out of Sephiroth holding them with telekinesis, before being restrained again. Which caused the green energy behind them which was the Holy to start moving.
Cloud and Bugenhagen also commented on the Holy not moving - (Cloud) "But...... How about Holy? How come Holy isn't moving?" (Bugenhagen) "Something is getting in its way." (Cloud) "......Him..... He is the only one who could do it. Sephiroth where are you?"
He also managed to do some things including create the shield barrier around the North Crater while asleep and control a lot of what happened behind the scenes for a while. Meaning he had feats even then.
All right then if that was not Sephiroth then who was it?
Jenova Cloud and his party were chasing parts of Jenova's body round the planet and also fighting them. This is shown when "Sephiroth" turns into a form of Jenova for them to fight sometimes. Also more when "Sephiroth" shapeshifts back into "Sephiroth" after choosing to look like Tifa to decieve Cloud and his party into giving him the Black Materia.
Tifa said about "Sephiroth" - "Not Sephiroth!? You mean all this time it wasn't Sephiroth we've been after?"
Tifa and Cloud said when he told the party that they were not following Sephiroth all that time while they were in the Northen Crater, with Sephiroth's physical body regenerating there - (Tifa) "But Sephiroth is......" (Cloud) - "He's there the real Sephiroth is just beyond there."
Final Fantasy VII 2007 Ultimania said - "In “FFVII” wherever Cloud and company go there is Sephiroth, but as a matter of fact it’s not Sephiroth’s real body. The headless Jenova stored in the ShinRa Building, is the one who manifests in Sephiroth’s form."
Final Fantasy VII 2007 Ultimania also said - "As for Sephiroth’s true self, when he fell inside the Nibel Mako Reactor he dissolved in the Lifestream, but over the course of five years his body reconstructed itself in the Northern Crater where the Lifestream concentrates as he bided his time for his revival. Before long, he was able to call Cloud, the Copies, and Jenova’s body together to unify in the Reunion, and use them to obtain the black materia to summon Meteor. After that, it was the complete body that Cloud and company would fight against."
Jenova also was able to shapeshift or use illusions to change or seemingly change its physical apperance when she first arrived on Gaia and almost wiped out the Cetra as a species as explained by Ilfana who was an Ancient herself. So it would stand to reason that Jenova would have been able to do so again even if much weaker due to only being part of their previous body due to being defeated and sealed, by the Ancients, experimented on by Shinra and also having Sephiroth lop off their head after all the aforemetioned things had happened.
Iflana said of Jenova - "It looked like... our dead mothers... and our dead mothers Showing us spectres of their their past."
Going by statements alone Sephiroth can destroy planets.
Rather statements and implications which are not are not out of context.
For what its worth.
It is mentioned that Sephiroth even before being sent to the lifestream by Cloud was able to destroy the planet.
Dissidia Museum said of Sephiroth - "A legendary member of SOLDIER once revered as a hero."
"In the original game, after learning that he was the product of genetic experimentation, he decided he was fated to destroy the planet—and he had more than enough power to do so."
"During his stint in SOLDIER, he learned well how to slash enemies with an impossibly-long sword. His fighting prowess is perhaps the only thing he values from the time he considered himself to be human."
When came back in Advent Children he told Cloud that he planned to what Jenova did long ago. Which while vague in the context of Advent Children, has some more information regarding it from out of universe statements which are more clear on what Sephiroth wanted to do not outright contradict what was said.
Sephiroth said - "What I want Cloud. Is to sail the darkness of the cosmos with this planet as my vessle. Just as my mother did long ago..."
Sephiroth said in reply to Cloud about what he wanted to do with the planet - (Cloud) "What about this planet?" (Sephiroth) "Well... Thats up to you Cloud."
Dirge of Cerberus English guide said of Kadaj's goal in Advent Children - Soon after a meeting with Rufus Shinra (who is driven to restore the planet and restore the companies name), Cloud learns that the young trio is lead by Kadaj, who seeks the remains of Jenova together with his new "brothers", he wishes to use Jenova to resurrect Sephiroth and finish the destruction of the planet."*
Meaning that in Advent Children Sephiroth would have destroyed the planet and then travelled through space on part of it as Jenova and eventually find a new planet. Providing that he defeated in their battle.
Jenova did do what what Sephiroth was describing. Since she arrived on Gaia on a meteorite. Which would have been part of the planet destroyed by her. It is also said that Jenova sought to destroy planets which further supports that this is what happened thousands of years before the main plot of Final Fantasy VII took place.
Final Fantasy VII 2007 Ultimania said of Jenova - "A life form from another planet, which arrived on the planet on a meteorite approx. 2000 years ago."
Final Fantasy VII 2007 Ultimania also said of Jenova - "It has an instinctive drive to destroy planets, and is a highly dangerous entity, so as the ‘Calamity from the Sky’ it was sealed by the Ancients."

2021.12.05 11:44 Idilay313 (S1 E4 Spoilers) - Red Herrings

I think we’ve been set up for a few red herrings. We’ve already discussed a few of these after previous episodes, but my latest theory is that there’s all this work to prevent the public from finding out “what happened” “what (they) did out there”. I think Tai, Nat, Shauna, and Travis (and the rest of the survivors except Misty) were really only guilty of cannibalism. That’s what they don’t want anyone knowing. I think Misty is the only murderer, but she will make it seem accidental each time.
