2021.12.01 17:50 dumbitchlol Does retaking classes look bad on your transcript?

I'm supposed to be graduating this year but due to a lot of reasons I'm nearly 2 years behind in school. I've retake quite a few classes to fix my GPA. So far I've gotten my GPA from a 1.73 to a 3.51. I was looking at my unofficial transcript and noticed that all the classes I had retaken were there and I started panicking since I really want to transfer to a good university. I know it's too late to ask but does it look bad if you have repeated classes on your transcript? I also have 2 sub-1100 or 101 classes that I've taken and either withdrew from or failed. Would those show up on my transcript too? I know they're not calculated in my GPA but would they be a major factor in me not getting accepted to the schools I apply to?

2021.12.01 17:50 jeanbear Question from a fairly new smoker

This may sound dumb, but if I just loaded my pipe and melted it down, can I put more in it to melt down like on top of the stuff that's in it already melted? (Sorry if that's confusing) nobody has taught me really anything I've just kinda learned off what I see people do, so please feel free to leave me any tips&tricks as well. (For reference I've only smoked It out of a pipe and done hotrails) thanks and happy smoking 🌬️💕

2021.12.01 17:50 BB4evaTB12 [D] Cohen's kappa — useful?

I often see subtle misuses of interrater reliability metrics.
For example, imagine you're running a Search Relevance task, where search raters label query/result pairs on a 5-point scale: Very Relevant (+2), Slightly Relevant (+1), Okay (0), Slightly Irrelevant (-1), Very Irrelevant (-2).
Marking "Very Relevant" vs. "Slightly Relevant" isn't a big difference, but "Very Relevant" vs. "Very Irrelevant" is. However, most IRR calculations don't take this kind of ordering into account, so it gets ignored.
I wrote an introduction to Cohen's kappa (a rather simplistic and flawed metric, but a good starting point to understanding IRR). Hope it helps. I welcome feedback and am curious to hear the IRR metrics you find yourself relying on most.

2021.12.01 17:50 seemyelegans How Taking Meds Could Affect My Future

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so I'm sorry if this violates the rules...
I'm really struggling right now with a decision and don't know who else to ask.
I've had anxiety pretty much my whole life and have come really far in learning how to cope with it. I've been going to therapy for the past six months, and it helps a bit. But my therapist suggested that going on anxiety meds might help me more because my anxiety is so bad. I could keep living like this, but I don't want to anymore. I want to take care of myself and although I was very against it in the past, I am considering taking meds, at least for the short term.
With that being said, I have been discouraged from getting formally diagnosed and taking meds by many people because it might affect me in the future when getting licensed. Even my therapist said that this was a possibility. I've looked into it online and can't seem to find anything that says that taking meds would for sure not affect my chances, so I'm inclined to believe the people who are telling me to stay away from them.
I don't personally know any physicians that I could ask. So I guess I'm just looking for advice from someone who either is a physician or who knows one that might have a better idea of how taking meds affects one's ability to practice. I don't want to make a decision now that will negatively affect me years into the future.
