2021.10.16 01:12 RealAnthonySullivan I found Casablanca very underwhelming. Thoughts?
Title basically summarizes the topic. I'm honestly scratching my head over why this is so much more revered compared to other movies released from the same time that have become forgotten to time. It's well made but even for the time it was released it comes across as very derivative and many movies released around either same time or prior deserves higher recognition. It's plot didnt grip me and wasn't really anything special even for the time period, I didn't buy Rick or Ilsa's romance for one second and aside from Laszlo and a couple of interesting moments with Ilsa, none of the characters were interesting in the slightest. So for those who love this movie why do you enjoy it and for it's detractors do you dislike the aspects I mentioned or was there other reasons?

2021.10.16 01:12 Rosepetal95 Is This Figurine Appropriate As A Gift For Sister?
There's this pretty figurine I ordered for my sister: https://imgur.com/a/WuSELm6
BUT, now that it's already been shipped to me, I noticed it has a 'breast cancer' ribbon on it at the bottom, which I didn't notice before. I'm not sure if returning it is possible to this particular seller, so is it appropriate to give to my sister? Or would it be weird to give to someone with no relation to that issue? Not sure how it would be perceived to give to anyone...thanks~

2021.10.16 01:12 spooky__scary69 Adopt Don’t Shop Judgement?
So, I’ve adopted every animal I’ve ever had as an adult. Cats, dogs, rats, even my fish was a rehome. My parents recently offered to get me my dream dog. (They’re getting a puppy anyway, and said they’d get me one of the siblings if I wanted.)
I’ve had a super hard year, and am finally in a good place to get a puppy. (Both financially and in that I work at home full-time and have a dog-friendly office should I have to return for whatever reason.) I would adopt the puppy, but I absolutely need a small breed, and the shelters around me just don’t have any puppies of any size right now. I adopted my dog as an adult, and I’m so glad I did. She’s my best friend. But because I couldn’t control her early development, she has a lot of issues that have cost me lots of money. (She has bad anxiety and is afraid of everything. I’ve spent hundreds on training and medication and she’s finally a pretty happy dog, though I still cannot camp or hike with her or anything which is something I’d like to do. Her vet has recommended I get her a puppy / friend, too.)
I am really excited about the puppy. Have his name and everything picked out already even though he isn’t born yet. The breeder is a very ethical one, she doesn’t have many litters and she always takes back any dogs that need rehomed. I did a ton of research on her to make sure she was ethical before I agreed to take the dog. But I’m worried about judgement because in the past when I was less educated about responsible breeders, I was a very “adopt don’t shop” person. I know I should just enjoy the dog and not worry about other people, especially when this is the only puppy I probably will ever have. (I plan to adopt all other dogs in my future, too. I just want to raise one from 10-12 weeks because I haven’t ever gotten to. I’m also planning to make a hefty donation in puppy’s name to our local shelter my current dog came from.)
I feel like I need to have some justification prepared but really I don’t have one other than I want a baby, and I need it to be small. There aren’t puppies to adopt anywhere near me, I’ve been looking for months. Has anyone experienced this? Did that feeling of being silently judged go away? Or do I need to just grow up and not give an eff what other people think? I am very pro-adopt when you can, and I wouldn’t be buying this dog on my own, but my parents have offered it as a gift and because they want their dog to have a sibling around. I probably won’t ever get a chance to have this breed (dachshund) otherwise and they are very near and dear to my heart bc my childhood dog was one and she was my best friend through a very lonely childhood.

2021.10.16 01:12 scrangos Link skills, 2 man groups vs 3 man groups?
From mark's answer there can be only one link between two individuals. Does that mean all 3 players can have a link buff on a 3 man party, but only one player can have a link buff on a 2 man party?
That is, A -> B -> C -> A vs A-> B. Could also have A -> B <- C -> A. I suppose playing with 3 players takes more effort, but would be nice if two man parties could use two links, one in each direction. Though I suppose that would make 3 man parties more ridiculous if its simply coded like that. I'd say put a link limit equal to nearby player numbers (exp share range).

2021.10.16 01:12 JOJOawestruck how do I narrow down It field I should specialized in?
I am taking courses for a degree but I am learning there are many fields and some specialized fields and some might not be for the same degree like computer information systems analyst might not be in the same degree for a web developer. so I got the one with coding cause I thought coding looked interesting and then there's even more to that. so I'm kind of overwhelmed with new stuff I'm learning after coming to this Reddit. and I'm starting to think that I'm not lazy just a procastinator.
also how do I go about finding projects that might look good for my portfolio that I would have to build?

2021.10.16 01:12 Humanoid__Human Keschet - stealing board games from books
Keschet is a board game described in Anthony Martin's Raven's Shadow series. It is played on a ten by ten board, with two players set in direct opposition to each other, a little like chess. It differs in that during the beginning of the game, the players take turns placing pieces. It seems very interesting in that a lot of the game relies on decieving your opponent as to your intentions.
Here's a list of known pieces.
Emperor: A valuable piece. Placing it forwards is considered indicative of an offensive position, or at least a position pretending to be offensive. Singular.
Scholar: A piece somehow essential for a good defence. Singular.
Lancers: Offensive piece, there are multiple of them.
Pikes (I may have this name wrong, but it was something like that): Counters lancers somehow. Multiple.
Thief: Any piece captured by the Thief can be placed by the capturer. Singular.
Archer: Somehow counters Emperor, although that may have been part of a deeper strategy on the player's part. Multiple.
This honestly feels like it would be extremely interesting to design, and I want to see what other people make of it.

2021.10.16 01:12 JuviaLynn Would I be able to find some kind of job in animation with a maths degree?
I’ve always been a creative type, small drawback on that is I can’t draw, by hand or digital. I took graphic design at A Level and got an A, I taught myself how to use Adobe Animate (really inefficiently), I really enjoyed it and would love to work in something animation related, even if it isn’t actually animating. I’m currently studying maths since I also got an A in that at A Level and it is useful for most industries so I can keep my options open for now.
While maths is definitely hard I’m not about to drop out and switch to an animation course, but I would like to know how useful would a maths degree be for animation?
