2021.10.16 00:48 UpbeatNail Met one of you fine Dublin folk at a metallica gig many years ago.
I believe it was 2006, I went to the Metallica Master of puppets 20th anniversary tour. Had a kick ass time lost everyone I came with and my wallet in crowd. I stopped by the barrier to wait out the exiting crowd and have a cigerette. I lent you a lighter (or vice versa not sure) You invited me out for a night in dublin. Bankrolled all the drinks (and more). as id lost my bank card. We had great fun found out we both loved wrestling as well. It was a very memorable night in my life and I enjoyed every minute of it.
You gave me a stack of cash of to get back to Belfast the next day and I promptly lost my phone on a drunken night out a few days later and didn't have a way to find you again because it was 2006.

2021.10.16 00:48 unsane_imagination Partner applied for DAC/CDB, found disabled after 22, but received social security payment
Hi, I’m hoping we can get some input or help here with a crappy SSA case. I understand you’re not lawyers, not paid, and can’t give legal advice, but maybe someone has insight or a similar experience on what to do. I’m posting for her partially because she doesn’t use Reddit, and partially because she’s burned out on this topic and has enough on her plate.
TL;DR: my partner applied for DAC, was found disabled after 22, but the decision seems to be approved and she’s receiving a payment. Lawyer thinks it’s a mistake, SSA is convinced she’s approved for benefits.
My partner is disabled on a number of (rare and hard to diagnose) physical and mental conditions (fun combination) and has spent the past two years applying for disability benefits with a lawyer. She has been having serious health issues her whole life, but the disabling physical conditions flared in her early 20s. Unfortunately she’s had a ton of ableism/sexism and negligence with doctors that dismissed and abused her, so she only managed to get most of the diagnoses recently after age 22.
As such, the lawyer ended up using the “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” method and primarily arguing the mental health conditions were disabling before 22 since the physical conditions didn’t flare until 21-22 and weren’t diagnosed for another 2-3 years. The lawyer seems to have applied for SSDI, SSI, and CDB.
She’s gone through the denials and has had her first appeal, which had an odd result:
She was denied SSDI and approved for SSI, but the child benefits decision is not entirely clear. We’re not sure what conclusion was reach regarding the child benefits - she was found disabled as of 24ish, so it should be a denial and the lawyer is saying so as well. But in the case decision/notes, it says “she has not attained age 22 before
Additionally, we’ve received a letter saying she’ll be receiving social security payments under the retirement/disability umbrella and that her SSI benefits will be reduced to 0 as a result. On the SSA online account, it also states that the SSDI was denied, SSI approved, and Child Benefits have been decided but there is no conclusion or direction available. The SSA account also confirms that she would be receiving SS “retirement” payments and there is a seemingly valid Benefits Verification Letter.
On top of that, she has been calling the local SSA office to get them to correct or resolve this situation so she can actually claim any of the benefits, but they have not helped. Mostly they kept trying to explain that she has in fact won disability benefits, refusing to look at the case files, and playing the “well it’s actually DAC, not SSDI” gotcha card, before complaining about how people won’t listen/don’t want help and hanging up on her.
It’s been pretty frustrating watching this go on for days now and not be able to help, and it’s affecting her negatively to keep getting gaslit and hung up on. Her lawyer isn’t helping with this either and has said she just needs to keep calling, and keeps pressuring her to decide whether to appeal or not.
After hearing that the appeal may take years and she’d likely end up with the same conservative judge as before, she’s leaning towards simply accepting the SSI and quitting this. The lawyer also has been less than transparent about the case, and waited until the last day to even go over how the hearing would go and what she should say, which has influenced her decision to continue. While she was hoping for a more livable income and can’t receive SSI until the mistake is resolved , the DAC would be under double the SSI amount and she doesn’t urgently need it, so she’s considering accepting this decision.
I empathize with and support her either way because I know how much precious time and energy she spends anxious about the SSA or trying to get a word in with the lawyer, but I’m hoping to find out as much as I can before she has to make this decision.
So, that’s the situation, and I’ll boil down what we’re unsure about:
Does this seems like a clear cut mistake and she’s actually denied DAC?
Does the payment she received seem to be due to the DAC decision? It also seems oddly low to be 50% of a parent’s retirement, but i don’t know what their amount is.
Since SSI was reduced to zero, could she claim any payments and would she have to send them back if/when the DAC is resolved?
Does it seem worth working towards an appeal?
Sorry if I’m asking too much or sharing too much, but any comments would be appreciated.

Just bought a 04 WRX. Sometimes When I turn right it makes a flapping noise. In order to stop the noise I have to make a left turn. Sounds like when you put the tip of a straw on a fan while it’s spinning. Sounds like it’s coming right behind glove department.

2021.10.16 00:48 wheredidmylifeg0 I think a girl likes me and I don’t know if I like her back what do I do?
So I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible so here it goes
I’m 17 (18 in a month) and I got sent to a inpatient mental health ward for 15 days for telling someone i was going to no life (if you know what I mean) myself and i was. now I’m doing a day program there where I spend 7am to 3pm there. I made a lot of friends in inpatient and in outpatient. There’s this girl Who goes there that I’ll just call L. L is The same age as me and super pretty. The first day I was there i complemented her hair and ever since then she’s been talking to me, complementing whatever I’m wearing, laughing at whatever I’m saying, painting watercolor for me etc. it’s been really obvious and most of her and my friends have been talking and whispering and encouraging us to sit gather most of today. The problem is is that I don’t know if I like her or not, I don’t know much about her but from what I know about her personality i just don’t feel like we’d match. I got her Snapchat to message her since the day program doesn’t last forever but I don’t know what to do. She has such a pretty eyes but I feel like I’m only attracted to her because no one else has shown attraction to Me before
